~Author's Note~

In, "Season 3, Episode 13: Dear Emily and Richard. Rory calls Lorelai to come to the hospital. Sherry is having the baby and she can't get a hold of Christopher. Lorelai has to leave Friday Night Dinner to be at the hospital with her. Emily is not happy about that, not happy that Lorelai is going there, to help another woman, who "stole" Christopher away from Lorelai, having her and Christopher's baby. Lorelai just got annoyed and left. This one shot is about what, I think, what should have happened.

Lorelai's at Friday Night Dinner alone. Rory was the hospital, Boston General, with Sherry, has she's already in labor.

The evening had been going very well, Lorelai and Emily both had been getting along very well. Then the dinner portion of Friday Night Dinner, that's when everything changed.

The beginning of the dinner was fine, it was until Lorelai's phone rang. Lorelai immediately answered her phone, first apologizing to Emily about talking on the phone while at Friday Night Dinner. Emily was bothered whenever, hers and Rory's phones would go off. They, most of the time, remembered to turn them off, but sometimes they forgot to turn off their phones, so sometimes they went off, and tonight's was not an exception.

It was Rory calling from the hospital, saying that Christopher was out of town and he wasn't picking up her phone. So she would have to go into the delivery room with Sherry, and she was freaking out having to do that, and she also said that if that Christopher didn't come in time that Rory was going to have to be there, and she was starting to freak out of a little bit.

"Mom, can you come? I need you", Rory said. She was at that age that she could handle things without Lorelai's help, but there were times that she still needed her Mom.

"Yes, I'm leaving now!", she said. "Goodbye". She hung up her phone.

"Mom, I got to go, Rory's freaking out". Lorelai told Emily as she was putting her phone back into her purse and standing up from the table.

"Where is Rory? Isn't she at Boston Memorial hospital with that "woman"? Emily said in total distain. She didn't like Sherry, since she was the woman that took Christopher away from Lorelai who she thought that Lorelai and Christopher belonged together, and that Christopher belonged with Lorelai and Rory.

"Well, it would probably be helpful if you called her by her real name, which is 'Sherry'", Lorelai said, exasperated.

"Well whatever your name is, she stole Christopher away from you and now you are going to go to be with a woman who is having a baby with Christopher", Emily said, in disgust.

Lorelai looked at her, and said, "Mom, I'm going for Rory", she said. "She's all by herself there".

"Why is she alone at the hospital? Isn't Christopher there"?

Lorelai looks at Emily, "No, of course not, Mom".

"What kind of father isn't there when their kid is being born"?

Lorelai snorted at Emily and looked at her, "Christopher does". So I'm going there, because Rory asked me to. I'm going there for her, not for anyone else".

Lorelai got up from the table and walked out the front door. While Emily just stands there stunned.
