~She had errands~ (4x01)

~Author's Note~

This takes place in "Season 4, Episode 1: Ballrooms and Biscotti", when Rory comes to Friday Night Dinner without Lorelai and has told Emily that Lorelai couldn't be there because she had errands to run, and then Emily and Lorelai have that fight, about Emily keeping Rory from Lorelai, on her last night before going to Yale. Here's another version, of how it should have gone.

(No one's POV)

Rory finally arrived at Emily and Richard's house, she walked up to front door and rang the door bell. While she was waiting for Emily to answer the door she was trying to thinking of what to say when Emily asked where Lorelai was.

Finally Emily opens the door and Rory walked in. "Hello, Rory" Emily said.

"Hi, Grandma", Rory said, walking in.

Emily was curious as to why Lorelai wasn't there for Friday Night Dinner, so she decided that she would ask.

"Rory", she said. "Where is your mother tonight".

"Oh, she couldn't make it tonight".

"She's not sick is she"? Emily asked. The reason why she asked that is because that was one of Lorelai favorite things of getting our of Friday Night Dinner, faking an illness, to try to get out of it.

Rory looked at Emily, she understand why she would ask her that. "No, she is not sick, she had some errands to run".

"Errands, what kind of errands"?, Emily asked, confused.

Rory hesitated, wondering if she should actually say it. "She had to finish the errands, for the stuff that I need for school".

"Oh, but I thought that you had another week before you had to be at Yale's orientation"?!

"Mix up in the date", Rory said. "So, we had a date written down wrong and we had just gotten back from Europe and, so we didn't have anything that I needed for tomorrow, so we decided that Mom would finish getting all the stuff that I would need for Yale, and I would come here for Friday Night Dinner".

"Oh, well that's okay, she can just come here next week".

"Yeah, and she is looking forward to it".

"You know, if you need to cancel because you needed to get ready for school tomorrow, I completely understand".

"Grandma, you and grandpa are the reason why I get to go Yale, and us coming to Friday Night Dinner is a part of that agreement. Now Mom has all of the errands under control, and she will be here for dinner next week, now let's go into dinner".

"Yes, let's go into dinner".
