Raine stood up slowly and bowed gracefully at him, as his beloved called out his name without his title and didn’t bow to him.  Another two marks against Bai Yu. His eyes looked from one woman to the other and he could see the difference like night and day.  

The woman he loved and held in the palm of his hand no longer exist.  She had become someone he disdained and could no longer tolerate. While the other woman he placed at the highest seat, next to him.  At first she was cold, silent and boring. However, it was he, who had his eyes covered with his hands. His Queen Wife was everything a Queen should be, she was everything a Wife should be.  She had planted her love inside of his heart and it has grown roots and would not leave. It could not be pulled out either, by anyone. Not even himself.

“Kneel.”  Lui Wei said as he came forward.

His tone was so cold that it made Bai Yu fear him.  She had not seen this side of Lui Wei before. It was another side to him that she did not recognise.  Why did her Lui Wei change so much in such a short period of time? Her eyes looked back at Ame and she knew, it was all Ame’s fault.  Her Lui Wei changed because of Ame. Her Lui Wei treated her this way because of Ame.

“You! It’s all your fault!”  Bai Yu shouted as she lunged at Ame.  

“Guards!”  Lui Wei shouted out of instinct.  

Before Bai Yu could even reach Ame, two hidden guards showed up in front of Ame and held Bai Yu down to the ground.  

“Ahhh!”  Bai Yu shouted.  “Let go of me! Let go!  Lui Wei! Tell them to let go.  You must find justice for me!”

As Bai Yu struggled, Lui Wei closed his eyes and rubbed his temples.  What was he going to do now? One was his Queen, the other was his Noble Consort.  One was his beloved, the other was someone he needed and cared for.

What surprised Lui Wei was that it was is Queen Wife that made the decision for him.  

“Let her go.”  Raine said as she held her chest.  “Sit down, Noble Consort Bai Yu and calm down.  There is no need to be violent. Let her go.”

Once the two guards let Bai Yu go, they did not go back to their hidden place, instead they each stood next to her as guards and would subdue Bai Yu should they need to.  

Lui Wei watched them with an inner struggle inside of him as Queen Ame sighed heavily.  

“Consort Bai Yu, we are women of his Highness’s back palace, not women at a brothel.  Please act with decorum and grace. As a Noble Consort, you should know how to behave like a noble lady.”  

“I did not grow up in a noble household, so I do not know how to act like one!”  Bai Yu shouted.

“That is why you should have taken the lessons to heart during your punishment period.  Do not keep on blaming your fate born as a commoner as an excuse not to have manners! You are now a Noble Consort to a King, you have changed your fate as a commoner and your children would not have the same fate as a commoner! I just told you that we, as women living in the back palace and women to the King, we cannot make trouble for him. Being a King is hard work, King Lui Wei is already facing so much scrutiny from all sides that the one place he can relax is the back palace.  That is why I asked you to pay more attention to him and take care of him more.” Raine said as she took a breath and kept talking.

“You have greatly disappointed me and my expectation of you… As Queen, it is my responsibility to uphold the laws and punishment of the back palace.  For your crimes against me, you will be demoted your position as Noble Consort. Your rank now will be 2nd rank Concubine. You will move out of Sweet Rose Courtyard and move into Lily Pond Courtyard.  You will also reflect on your words and actions as well as have a palace teaching Mama by your side to continuously teach you manners and laws of the back palace. Should you fail to meet expectation during your teaching, proper punishment will be enforced by the palace teaching Mama.  You are confined to your courtyard for six months and cannot take one step out of your courtyard and cannot receive guests. Should you break this rule, you will face more punishment.”

Bai Yu looked to Lui Wei to reprimand Queen Ame and take back everything that Queen Ame said, however to her disappointment again, Lui Wei stood by and let her punishment happen.  Bai Yu became enraged and tried to attack Ame again. However the two guards quickly held her back as Bai Yu screamed.

“You!  It’s all your fault!  What makes you think you can do anything to me!  Lui Wei and I were fine before you came into our lives!  You changed him! You can’t do anything to me! I’ll do whatever I want!  You can’t take Lui Wei away from me! He loves me! You can’t hurt me!”

Bai Yu’s crazy antics caused Lui Wei to distance himself from Bai Yu even more.  What was it about Bai Yu that he loved so much, even he couldn’t remember.

“Take her away.”  Lui Wei said as he got annoyed by the loud shouting.  

“Lui Wei!”  Bai Yu shouted as she was being carried out.  “Lui Wei! Don’t ignore me! I love you! Don’t her do this!  Don’t let her drive a wedge between us! I love you!”
