The moment Raine transmigrated into Addison Evermore, she had just buried her Uncle’s family and her family. Her belongings had just been moved back into the Evermore Estate.
The moment Addison found out about the death of her family, she stayed in bed the whole time, letting her Grandfather take care of everything. Even her first meeting with her Grandfather after 10 years was unremarkable. She was lost in her grief and didn’t even realize that he visited her. At the funeral, she sat still like a hollow husk and was guided by a helper.
Now after the funeral, they were on their way back to the Evermore Estate. Grandfather Monroe took the security around himself and her very seriously which was the reason why they rode in two different cars. Fearing that their enemies will attack them if they were together.
Raine thought about her mission and decided to slowly integrate herself into the family business. If she immediately made moves to take over, Grandfather Monroe would be suspicious.
Not only that, but this time around, she would remember her identity as Raine. She would not become Addison completely and invest so much of herself in her mission.
Raine turned her head toward the man who sat next to her.
“Excuse me.” Raine said softly, bring all three of the men’s attention towards her.
“Yes, Miss Addison?”
“I just realized that I don’t know your names.”
The young man who sat beside her was shocked that she asked for their names. He looked over at the man sitting in the passenger seat for a quick second before introducing everyone.
“My name is Luther Stokes, most people just call me Lue for short. The bald man is Irving Mooney and that’s Maxwell Sullivan, we just call him Max.”
“It’s nice to meet you.” Raine said. “And thank you… for everything.”
Luther was surprised once again. What the security team found out about Addison Evermore was not what he expected. According to the profile they received, Addison Evermore was an average college kid who partied a lot and did the occasional drug. She was loud, opinionated, stubborn and had huge disagreements with her Father and Mother. She had been spoiled so much that once her Parents disagreed to anything that she wanted, she would throw a fit larger than a nuclear bomb.
They knew that after the news of the deaths of her family she hid herself in her room and became a shell of herself. They did not think that the first thing she would do after realizing the situation she was in, was to ask for their names and thank them.
“Ah… you’re welcome. It’s our job to protect you.” Max said as he scratched his head.
“I know. I just… thought you guys should know.” Raine told them as she turned to look out the window again.
The three men looked at one another and returned back to their positions. Luther typing away on the cellphone, Irving kept his eyes on the road again, while Max stayed alert, watching the scenery.
When they arrived at the Evermore Estate, there were already rows and rows of cars parked on the side of the roundabout driveway. Raine waited until the car was parked and the door was opened before she got out.
The dress she wore was fitted to her chest and waist, while it slightly flared out at the bottom, giving her a demure and elegant look. Her Grandfather was waiting for her at the door with four other security guards. His hand was out for her to grab a hold on to and Raine took his hand without hesitation.
In Addison’s life, she had to have someone help her out of the car and help her walk. Her grief completely crippled her and she completely dismissed her Grandfather.
Grandfather Monroe lead her inside, where the wake was in process. Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at the two surviving family members. Those that were close to them, gave them their condolences.
Raine stood by Grandfather Monroe for most of the wake, never being too far away from him. When the wake was coming to a close, it was only then that she excused herself and walked to the back of the huge mansion.
Pass the french doors, was a large green, well manicured lawn. To the right was a large, olympic size swimming pool and to the left was a maze flower garden with several large animal shape hedges. Raine sat on the stairs and waited for those who wanted to speak to Addison come seek her out.
The first person who came was Craig Leafheart. He quietly sat next to her and handed her a glass of whiskey over ice.
“You poison it?” Raine asked montonely.
“No.” Craig said as he sighed. This was the first time they spoke in 8 years. Since the day she and her family moved away, they lost contact with each other.
“Pitty.” Raine said as she drained the drink down in a couple of gulps.
“I would ask how you’ve been. But, seeing how we’re meeting after 8 years under these circumstances, I’ll just sit here and keep you company.”
“Thanks.” Raine said as she quickly stole a quick glance at Craig.
Craig Leafheart was the epitome of what a rich, handsome, mafia heir looked like. With black hair and brown eyes, he had a neat and trim goatee as well as an enchanting boyish smile with dimples. His tall and muscled frame could attract anyone, man or woman.
His all black suit fitted on his body like a glove, showing off his best assets. His long legs, a nicely round butt and broad shoulders.
Another person sat next to Raine and poured more whiskey into her glass cup. This time the perfumed, young lady had shoulder length blonde hair and shining blue eyes that looked pitying at Raine. Her petite frame was delicate, making others want to protect her.
“I would have told you that ‘life’s a bitch,’ but that would be insensitive of me.” Silver said as she poured more whiskey into Craig’s glass cup before pouring some whiskey on the stairs in front of them. She clinked the whiskey bottle against their cups raised the bottle up slightly. “You gotta send them off with a bit of whiskey for a safe journey.”
Silver then took a big and long swig of whiskey, directly from the bottle. Raine looked at the young woman and drank the whiskey in her cup as well. Craig followed afterwards without a word.
“Where’s your phone?” Silver asked as she poured her and Craig another glass.
Raine unlocked her phone and gave her cellphone to Silver. Silver placed the bottle between her legs before adding her cellphone and Craig’s cellphone. She called both phone numbers so they would get her phone number.
“Just in case you find yourself in a dark hole and want to talk.” Silver said as she gave the phone back.
“Or if you need saving.” Craig added. “Or company.”
“Thanks.” Raine said as she placed her cellphone back inside of her purse.
