“M’lady?” Odette said as she came up to Elise. “Are you not feeling well?”
“I’m just tired.” Raine said as she took her forehead off of the window.
She didn’t know how long her Scam System would be gone, but for the time being, she can only rely on herself. It was the best timing for her Scam System to upgrade itself, Raine had 11 years before she meets the male lead. She has to concentrate on Elise’s happiness and to begin her life, she would attend medical school and carry on her family’s legacy.
Raine waited until her belongings were put away and she was alone before she opened her right hand that still held onto the potion. Raine stepped away from the window and opened the vial. She placed the vial to her nose, smelling it before drinking the orange liquid inside.
Although the potion does not smell like anything, the taste of it tasted like oranges, which was a surprise to Raine. Raine stood still in one spot to see if there was any difference, however she felt the same.
“Don’t tell me that Scam System, scammed me again?” Raine grumbled to herself as she placed the empty vial into her magic pouch and wore the pouch around her neck.
During the week of waiting, Raine mostly stayed in the library to read up on the history and medical books that the Devereux’s collected. She would go on walks and speak to the guards, servants and maids when ever she met someone. She would also go on long horse rides exploring the countryside along with four guards who had to always be by her side if she left the castle.
Elise’s sweet temperament caused everyone in the castle to treat her well, they soon thought that their Young Lord Axel didn’t deserve such a nice and sweet girl. Not only that, but Elise was also very helpful, whenever anyone ran into trouble, or needed a hand, Elise would volunteer to help them, even though she was the Young Lady of Devereux.
Elise also won over her in-laws. Her charming, sweet and shy deposition caused them to fall in love with her. They began treating her as their own granddaughter and daughter, spoiling her with gifts, indulging her fancies, and praising her to the Gods.
And even though she won over everyone in the castle, they could still see the sorrow that hung over her like a shadow. A mere mention of Young Master Axel, would drive her smile away. They also often found her alone and the lonely back they saw caused them to want to protect her even more.
After a week, Elise left Devereux Castle, with two maids, two servants, and 12 guards. They traveled by carriage and horseback for a week, stopping at inns and camping out in the open before reaching the capital city, Qiria.
The large city opened its gates to let them in without an inspection. The banner they held of the family emblem was enough authority for the city guards not to stop and inspect them.
When the carriage stopped and Elise was told to step down, the door opened and she was helped down by Odette. The mansion in front of her was just as grand as the Devereux Castle. It had 10 rooms, a library, a study, a dining room, a receiving room, a kitchen and music room. It also had servant quarters as well.
Raine explored the mansion as everyone else moved in. She chose the room that looked into the backyard. The backyard had a fountain and a beautiful garden. Next to her room was the music room, that had several instruments that Raine could play.
The next couple of days, Raine situated herself and explored the city, buying supplies, books and clothes. Her spending had no limit, so she didn’t have to worry about bargaining. She also checked out her medical school and spoke to the Admission Dean to get her schedule.
When it was time for Raine to attend class, she did so with a serious and determined mindset. However with the Potion of Perfect Eidetic Memory, Raine quickly rose to the top of the class and quickly impressed the professors and the students.
Her genial personality caused everyone to like her and treat her well. Raine kept to her promise to the Devereux’s and wrote back every week, sometimes twice a week if there was something exciting happening to her. And when her first year of medical school was completed, she went back to the Devereux Castle to spend time with her in-laws and everyone else for the summer.
When she went back to the Devereux Castle, she would help patch up anyone that was hurt within the castle. When the villagers heard that she was a Doctor, villagers from far and wide made their way towards Devereux Castle for consultation. They had to build a clinic outside of the south gatehouse to support the large amount of people who came to seek healing.
When it was time for Raine to head back to medical school, the villagers didn’t want to see her go, however they knew she still needed to attend school.
Raine’s time quickly passed, and when she graduated medical school, top of her class, the Devereux’s were so proud, they came to the city to celebrate her accomplishment.
Four years, since Raine gave Scam System 30,000 Soul Force Points to upgrade itself to be strong and powerful enough to hack Headquarters and still there was no word from Scam System. There were also no notification if she completed any hidden side missions. These four years without Scam System made her miss the annoying little scammer.
And these four years, she has not found any trace of Lui Wei, which made her feel very lonely. The loneliest time was during the night. She didn’t have anything to do, but sleep and dream. She would dream of Lui Wei when she first met him and they would spend hours together entangled with each other. However the moment she wakes up, the cold empty bed beside her made her curl up into a ball and pray that Lui Wei was able to transmigrate into this world.
After the celebration, the Devereux and Raine went back to the Devereux Castle where Raine went back to her work in the clinic. Another two years passed before there was a sudden notification that sprang up before her.
