The Madam first tested her abilities, to make sure what she said was true.  Every instrument that was given to her, Nyx was able to play music on. The poetry, history, and political books that were given to her to read and memorise was read in a day.  When Nyx was questioned by Madam, all of her answers were correct.

Nyx also helped the higher courtesans with their makeup.  Pink Orchid had Five Beauties that were really famous in Wealsome.  To train Nyx’s humbleness, she had to do all of the Five Beauty’s makeup.  

The only thing she wasn’t tested on was cooking, because the Madam didn’t want Nyx’s hand to have calluses on them.  While the other women worked, Nyx’s job was to play the flute, behind the screen. Her debut was not set yet, so the Madame kept her plans to herself.  To everyone working there, Nyx was just a new musician and makeup servant.

To Raine, her training at Pink Orchid was just a means to an end for her succubus to eat.  Every night her succubus was so full and happy that it didn’t bother Raine about it being hungry.  Raine also sent her Scam System to go eavesdrop for her. Raine’s happiest passtime was to listen to the recordings that her Scam System was able to catch.  

Within a month at Pink Orchid, Raine knew the ins and outs to Pink Orchid. She even helped the Madam unveil the accountant stealing money from her and pocketing the money for himself.  Since then, the Madam began to trust Nyx more and had the accountant’s apprentice become the new accountant, while having Raine secretly check the books after every night.

The accountant that stole from the Madam was never heard of again.  While Raine continued to train secretly inside of her room, when she wasn’t working.  

After the second month at Pink Orchid, rumors started spreading that the Madam of Pink Orchid was going to add the Sixth Beauty to her brothel.  The Sixth Beauty was talented and virtuous like a lady. She was clean and untouched.

When the people working at Pink Orchid heard that the Six Beauty was Nyx, most of them already had a guess as to who it was, however there were also a lot of people who disagreed with Madam’s choice.  

“Why did you pick her?  She’s just a musician and servant to the Five Beauties.”  Sul said as she pouted. She was ranked 3rd in the Pink Orchid and didn’t like anyone threatening her status or stealing her customers.  

“I let her paint your faces so she could see her competition.”  The Madam told her. “I had long planned to add a Sixth Beauty to my house and I have found her in Nyx.  She is a talented woman, who can attract more business. More business, means more work. More work means more money.  More money means better lives. Better lives means a happier Madam.”

“Pink Orchid is your flower garden.”   Elsie, the 2nd rank beauty said as she stood up and bowed.  “Welcome to Pink Orchid, Sixth Sister.”

“Yes, welcome.”  Layla and Brooke both said as they copied Elsie.  

Layla was the 4th ranked beauty and Brooke was the 5th.  As for the first rank beauty, Tia. She was quiet the whole time and didn’t even pay attention to the meeting.  Her head was turned towards the window as she looked outside at the passing people.

“Now that it’s made clear,  Nyx’s training is done, she will no longer be painting your faces.  Should you need help from her, you will pay her for her services. Her debut will be in five days.  There is a lot to prepare and I know that I none of you will make trouble for me during the following week!”  

“Yes, Madam.”  Everyone said.   

“Anyone who acts out of line, knows the rules.”  Madam warned everyone again. “Mess up this opportunity for me and you’ll beg me to kill you!”  

“Yes, Madam.”  

That night and for the rest of the night, Madam’s plans were in place.  Behind a white screen, the shadow of Nyx could only be seen as she played beautifully for the guests.  No matter what song request the guests made, Nyx was able to play the song beautifully for them.

Nyx also recited poems to the scholars, causing the scholars to complement her back through poetry. Their word plays would cause a ruckus among scholars and each one would then challenge Nyx to recite a poem from an even more reclusive poet.  

Nyx had soon won over the scholars and the men who loved music.  Her soft voice, smart answers, and talent began to win Pink Orchid a big following in anticipation of Nyx’s unveiling.  

A week pass quickly as it became the day of her debut.  To prepare her for her big unveiling Nyx was bathed in a mixture of goat’s milk and rose water.  The rose petals floated on the surface as she relaxed and let the other maids massage her arms and back.  

After an hour of soaking, Nyx was then brought to her new room and had her makeup and hair done.  She sat in front of a mirror with her eyes closed and let the maids do what they were ordered to do.  

After three hours, she was then ushered to stand up and stand still as she was dressed.  Her long deep red dress contrasted against her soft, creamy skin making it shine brighter.  Her hair was pinned up, decorated with white orchid pins and a long pearl string that threaded through her hair.  

Her ankles were decorated with anklets with small bells.  When she walked, the bells would chime with each step. Her bracelets were made of gold and white jade that matched her earrings.  The white orchid earring brought attention to Nyx’s long soft neck .

When Nyx was ready, it was already the middle of the night.  Those who came, already spent a lot of money to stay until Pink Orchid’s Sixth Beauty was revealed.  

“Show them everything you have.”  Madam said beside her as she looked over Nyx once over.  “Tonight is your night, make everyone want to be you or want to you to belong to them.  Go.”
