Livda and Collan held each other with their eyes wide with fear. The new family who just moved to the village had left in the middle of the night, hoping to get help in the next village. It would take them two days to get to the next village, but they needed to report the incident to the authorities.
With the new morning light slowly rising and the foggy air around them, Livda and Collan could only cry and plead for their life as Ayla walked through the fog and appear before them.
Even if Livda and Collan wanted to run, they couldn’t. Their feet all the way up to their knees were cemented into the ground. Their only comfort was the fact that they were holding on to each other.
Raine stood a few feet away with a cold look and silence answering the pleading couple. Their pleading quickly became curses and threats, but Raine paid them no mind.
“May your souls never rest in peace. May they always wander as hungry ghosts, never finding redemption. May you never reincarnate ever again.” Raine said as a wall of fire lit up in front of her before the wall beamed forward hitting the couple.
Raine watched with cold eyes and an empty heart as the couple burned before her eyes. When the screams finally stopped, Raine walked into the home that tortured Ayla for so many years.
The moment she walked in and searched the house for the child slave, her heart dropped. The child’s body has long been cold and stiff. The room that the child stayed in was a mess. Raine checked over the child’s body and had her Scam System scan the child for the reason why he died and found out that he died due to internal bleeding and starvation.
With a heavy heart, Raine covered the boy in a blanket, before bringing him out of the house. Raine made sure to burn the hell house down and walked away from the village without looking back. She found a nice place in the woods by the waterfall to bury the boy. Raine’s only regret was that she should have saved the boy when she had a chance.
She was being too calculating again and forgot to be a human being. Although she was a transmigrater host doing missions, the people who do live in the worlds are real, with real life and death consequences. Had Raine stop for one moment to realize that the worlds she transmigrated to, are real and not just a game, the little boy would not have died.
She had the power and the ability to save him and yet for the past two weeks, she never once thought to save him early, before she implemented her plans for revenge. Raine was too stuck on her mission and the death of the little boy was the result of her narrow mindedness.
Raine buried the boy next to a waterfall, hoping that he finds peace after the hell he had to live through. And for the first time, in a long time, ever since her parent’s funeral, Raine prayed. She prayed to the Gods that he will quickly reincarnate into a loving family and live a good life, in his next life.

Raine’s tears immediately fell. She didn’t know if she should feel happy. Was she happy for herself or for the little boy? Either way, what’s done is done and she still had the second half of her revenge to complete.
Raine cried for the first time, in a long time, for a stranger. She didn’t cry for selfish reasons, such as the death of a lover or because she cried fake tears to ensure her mission’s success. She felt humbled by the Gods answering her prayers and the warm, loving family that the little boy would be blessed into.
After sometime, her tears ran dry and she could gather her emotions, Raine dusted herself and left the little boy’s burial site with the sounds of a waterfall.
Like the waterfall, Raine will continue to persist, but she is never the same again.

Raine let herself slightly smile at her situation. How could she have known that her mistake would reveal so much about herself and let her accomplish so many hidden missions.
“How many Enlightenments do I have to accomplish before ascending to the heavens and becoming an Immortal?”
[ Eight Levels of Enlightenment.]
“Thanks.”
[Gasp! Did you just thank this Scam System?!? Host, you have been enlightened! Who are you and where did you put my Host!]
“Scram, you Scam System!” Raine shouted as she glared at the transparent sphere who hovered above her head as Raine launched herself from tree to tree. “Go do your work properly or I’ll make you regret it!”
The transparent sphere danced around Raine’s head as if it was happy.
[Ah, there’s the Host I know. Of course your enlightenment was only for a moment and the true you is still here. Gave this Scam System a fright there, for a moment. Life is so much more interesting with you this way, an Enlightened Host is a boring Host.]
“Still not going to do your job!” Raine threatened. “Just wait until I get my hands on you! I’ll remember every grievances you committed towards me and pay you back ten fold!”
[Yes. Yes. Host is very scary. Scam System will do as Host says and do it’s work.]
The transparent sphere quickly disappeared and left Raine alone to travel towards her destination. The slight smile on her face became a real one, once she was alone.
