Elise paused for one moment, before she brushed past him and walked towards her room.  Axel continued to follow her from behind, however the silence between them caused him to worry.

“Elise.  Can we talk?”  Axel asked however Elise completely ignored him.  “We need to talk.”

Still he was ignored.

“Elise.  Stop. We need to talk.  Stop walking away from me.”

“There’s nothing to talk about.”  Elise said as she kept on walking.  Her steps became faster and faster. “Besides, I did not give permission for you to call me by my name.  It’s Keeper or Doctor to you, General.”

“We need to talk about our engagement!”

“What engagement?!?  You made it quite clear to us about your opinion of our engagement almost 12 years ago.  There is nothing to talk about. We are not engaged.”

“Yes, we still are and we’re going to get married!”  Axel argued.

“Grandpa Derek broke our betrothal once they found out that I am a Keeper.  He set you and me free from our engagement. Instead, he adopted me as his daughter.  So technically, I’m considered your Aunt. And last time I remember, family members can’t get married.”

“You’re NOT my Aunt.  You and me, we’re going to go through with the engagement and get married.”

“How dare you!”  Elise said as she whips around to glare at him.  “How DARE you! Who do you think you are? You think you can just say what you want to say and I’ll do it?!? Have you ever thought that I don’t want to marry you as well?!? Did you think I would sit at home, waiting for you to marry me?  That I would waste my time pining away for an immature, unfilial coward?”

“Elise….”

“It’s Keeper or Doctor, General!”  Elise told him. “Let’s keep it that way.  All those years ago, had you stayed at least one day, so we could meet. I would have told you then that I didn’t want to marry you too.  I would have told my grandfather to break the betrothal when our families met, and together we could have changed their minds. We could have came up with a different solution.  Did you know, that when you ran away on the day of our wedding, my Grandfather was so upset. His illness came back like a raging fire and he died a few days later?”

“Elise…. I’m sorry, I didn’t know.”

“Everyone’s calling me God’s Hands, but the one person I want to save, I couldn’t.  The one person who took care of me, loved me unconditionally, protected me, and lived far pass his illness would let him, died in front of me and I couldn’t do anything!  God’s Hands, what does that even mean? If I had God’s Hands, I would have saved my parents and my Grandfather. Then I wouldn’t be so alone.”

“You still have us!”  Axel said as he reaches out to Elise and hugs her to his body.  “You have me.”

Her shivering body froze and she took a step back, breaking his hold around her body.  The sadness and loneliness in her eyes were completely wiped clean and her eyes became hard, with anger.

“But you don’t have me.”  Elise told him before going to her room and entering it.  Once inside she locks the door and pushes herself against it.  Her body falls down as all of her strength leaves her.

Axel could only watch her lonely figure walk away from him.  The closing of the door made his heart feel stuffy and the lock on the door made the pit in his stomach drop.  He felt horrible for his actions all those years ago. He was a coward and unfilial to his family.

But that boy all those years ago, is not him anymore.  Now he is a man, who takes responsibility for his actions.  He’s a man who knows what he wants. And he wants Elise Sweeny, Doctor and Keeper.  She will be his wife, one way or another. He’ll just have to make her fall in love with him, just like how he loves her.

Suddenly he realized that what he was feeling towards Elise was love.  Love. He wanted her to love him back, just as he fell in love with her all those months ago.  He had fallen in love with who she is, her strengths, her passion, and her kindness. He has seen her sadness, her anger, and her loneliness.  All he wants to do now is give his all to her. He wanted her to recognize him as a man and not judge him on his past. With his new found recognition of his feelings, he promised to strive to win Elise’s friendship, trust, and love.

Best of all, her room was across from his.  Which would make it much easier for him to woo her.  With a smile on his face, he begins to whistle and enters his room with light steps.

Behind Elise’s door, Raine smiles in the darkness.  Her slag of a man, Lui Wei was falling into her scheme just like how she planned.

[Look at you smiling so smugly.  You must feel proud of yourself.]

“Yes, because I’m so close to completing my mission successfully.  You should be happy for me too.”

[I’ll only be happy once you complete it.  Not a minute before or after.]

“Whatever, as long as it’s a successful mission, the both of us can gain from it.”

[Humph.  You want to see what Little Miss Worship the Gods Hands is doing?]

“Sure.”  Raine said as she begins to get ready for bed.

Inside of Sabine’s room, she is taking a bath.  Her body is under the water, all the way up to her top lip.  Her eyes stares in one direction as if she is lost in her thoughts.

“Scam, go be a kitty and win her love.”  Raine ordered. “Maybe she’ll even let you sleep in her bed.”
