A few minutes later a young woman with pink hair and blue eyes broke through the hidden cave that she fell into. Her misstep caused her to fall into an enchanted cave, where she found several magical items and when she came out safely, she was happy, however she felt as if she was just a second too late. She felt as if she had lost an opportunity that she did not know of. Looking back into the hidden cave, Sabine hesitated to go back in, but decided to leave. Now that she was out, she didn’t know if she would be able to come back out again, if she went back in, to check if she got everything valuable inside.
Sabine walked east, towards her village and saw a pool of blood on the ground. She looked around, but did not see any bodies or any clues of the body. When she looked up, she saw where the body fell from, but the body itself was gone. Probably taken by enemies or animals.
The further Sabine walked away from the scene, the more her heart felt uneasy. She didn’t know what was wrong, so she kept looking back to the same spot, before continuing on her journey back home.
Raine quickly gave first aid to Axel. Her heart beated wildly and franctly at the thought of Axel dying. Her slag of a lover, Lui Wei, had chosen to transmigrate to Axel and they spent 10 years apart in this world. After making Lui Wei suffer for his stupid decision, she’ll then let him back into her life, after apologizing and groveling.
Raine completed her duty as a doctor, she stayed by his side through the night to ensure that he won’t break into a fever. Raine took care of Axel for three days before his fever broke, she was tired, but she only lightly rested her eyes sitting on a chair by his bed.
Axel’s eyes opened up to a dim and warm room. The soft crackling of the fire brought his eyes towards the fireplace, but suddenly stopped at the woman sitting by his side. Her head kept tilting back and forth trying to sleep, yet be awake at the same time.
Only half of her features were lit up as the other half was in darkness. What he saw so far, he liked. Although still young, she looked mature. There was also a sense of unknown mystery from her that he couldn’t figure out, yet drew him towards her.
Axel’s eyes tighten on the thin woman and thought that she needed to eat more. How could this woman be so defenseless against an unknown man?
Axel cleared his throat and immediately the woman woke up. She then proceeded to light up the lamp beside the bed and stopped once their eyes met. Her worried gold eyes also held so much sorrow in them. He wanted to ask her what made her sad, however his voice got stuck in his throat when she places her hand on his forehead. For some odd, unknown reason he wanted to take her sadness away from her.
“You’re fever broke.” Elise said as she smiled gently at Axel. “That’s good. You had me worried there for awhile.”
Elise checked his pulse with her fingers then checked over his bandages to make sure they don’t need a changing yet.
“Where am I?” Axel finally asked as the silence between them lasted longer than he wanted.
“In my home.” Elise told him. “I was out searching for medicinal plants and found you underneath a cliff. You were badly hurt and almost died. Thankfully it was me who found you when I did, or else who knows what might of happened.”
“What happened to the war with The Soulless?” Axel asked as he tried to get up, however Elise pushed him down.
“Settle down, don’t move or your wounds will reopen and all my work will be for nothing. You do not need to worry about the war with The Soulless, it is over.”
“It’s over?”
“Yes, humans have won the war and will have to wait another 10 years for the demons to try again.” Elise told him as she rechecked his wrapped up wounds. “Lay down and stay still. You reopened your wound on your stomach. I have to sew it up again and put medicine on it.”
Axel did exactly what she ordered and watch her light up more lamps around the room then she went over to her workbench where she grinded up medicine.
“You’re a doctor?”
“Lucky you, huh?” Elise teased. “Told you that had it not been for me who found you, you would not have survived.”
“What’s your name?”
“You can call me Doctor or Keeper.” Elise told him. “Whichever one you prefer I’ll still answer to it.”
“You’re a Keeper as well?” Axel asked with a surprise. “You were there during The Soulless war?”
“Yes. I was in a closed door cultivation when the Soulless war began. It was my naivete that cause me to miss the first eight months of war. However when I cam out of my closed door culitivation, my Honor Guard told me of the situation, I made my way to the battlefield. Once I got there, I helped the other Keepers and the Soulless war ended. On my way back home, while searching for medicincal plants, I found you.”
“Thank you, for saving my life. My name is…. you can call me General.” Axel told her.
Since the Keeper wanted to keep her identity a secret, he decided to do so as well.
“Alright General.” Elise said as she came back to him with a needle, thread, a medicinal paste and clean strips of cloth to wrap his wound. “Just lay still and let me work my magic, huh?”
