POV Shawn

"You'll never be alone!" I sing. I don't even have to say anything and the audience continues to sing. I pull my hand through my hair and look around me. The wristbands of the fans light up and give such an beautiful effect. It was Indy's idea to hand out wristbands and she was more than right. I own her so much. Her idea makes this night extra special.

I look back to see if she's there, but she's not. Where did she go? I look briefly at Andrew and ask him, without talking aloud, where she has gone. He shrugs and looks around. My eyes scan the public hoping to see her face. When I get closer to the audience, the girls start screaming. Then, just behind the group of screaming girls, I see a girl with a hoodie on. The hood is pulled over her head and she even wears sunglasses. She lifts her sunglasses gently and then I see her fantastic, radiant eyes. Her smile makes my stomach feel warm.

"You'll never be alone!" I sing with all the air that I have in my lungs. "When you miss me close your eyes I may be far be never gone," I continue to sing, "just remember that we lay under the same stars!" Indy puts her sunglasses back on and then sings along with the audience.

After the song I can go to B stage. The big rose hangs above my head and I'm now surrounded by my audience. The fans are standing against the stage and trying to touch me. I carefully take a seat on the stool behind my familiar piano. "I love it when you just don't care, love it when you dance like there's nobody there."

The room screams so loud that my voice is no longer heard. This song, 'Life Of The Party', still has a special place in my heart. It's the very first official song I've written and released. It has never been a huge hit, but all my fans know it.

"We don't have to be ordinary, make your best mistakes." I sing. I look around me. A feeling of butterflies in my stomach plays out.
"Cause we don't have the time to be sorry. So baby be the life of the party." Sings the audience on.

"I'm telling you to take your shot. It might be scary. Hearts are going to break," I continue to sing, "'Cause we don't have the time to be sorry. So baby be the life of the party." The audience sings so incredibly loud that I don't want this moment to end.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Life of the party." I sing softly. "So don't let them keep you down. Oh you know you can't give up," the microphone touches my lips occasionally and my fingers glide over the keys of the piano as if they've always done this, "Cause we don't have the time to be sorry. So baby be the life of the party."

I look around after the song. The wristbands that the fans have received illuminate the room. Indy is a freaking genius, I can't say it enough. I get up to start the following song immediately: 'When you're ready'. I'm offered a guitar and the microphone stand is placed.

I run my hand through my hair and check if the ear in my ear is still in place. It was this precise moment that I realized how happy I am. "I truly don't have the words to say what I feel right now." I say to those amazing people around me. Without saying anything else, I quietly start playing my guitar.

The fans sing along loudly with the lyrics of the song. I can't describe how much this song means to me. I wrote it in Jamaica when Indy and I had parted, well, when I left Indy. The point is that I would wait forever for Indy. Even though it would take her ten years to forgive me.

"And if I have to, I'll wait forever. Say the word and I'll change my plans. Yeah, you know we fit together. I know your heart like the back of my hand." I sing squatted. The girl in front of me is filming me and screams hysterically in Dutch. The only thing I understand is my name and I recognize a few words because Indy has told me once, but I've no idea what it means.

"So baby, tell me when you're ready. I'm waitin'. Baby, anytime you're ready. I'm waitin'." I get up and hope to see Indy somewhere, but I don't. She must have gone backstage already. "Just ten years from now. If you haven't found somebody. I promise, I'll be around. Tell me when you're ready. I'm waitin'."

During my last song, In My Blood, I've time to run off the stage. Everywhere around me you can see white confetti falling down. Apparently Indy managed to stand at the front of the fence and so I run towards her. She has taken off her sunglasses and her white smile stands out among all the screaming girls.

Jake accompanies me to Indy, past all the screaming fans who are trying to grab me. Jake is wonderfully able to get there quickly. The girls scream super loud when I run past them, but the only one who now has my attention is Indy. She and Eef were dancing in front of the stage during the entire concert and the way Indy danced distracted me a so much.

As soon as I'm with Indy, she throws her arms around my neck. I also put my arms around her and give her a kiss in her neck. "You did it, Mendes." She screams happy.

The girls next to Indy scream so loud that I can no longer hear Indy's words. "I love you." I try to tell her. Everywhere there are hands on my body and Indy is now recognized by the girls. I let go of Indy and raise my hands to the audience. They scream loudly and the whole room is flickering slightly.

Jake lifts Indy and Eef over the fence so they're in a safe place and then we run back to backstage together. Indy gives me a little kiss on my cheek, she makes my heart beat a thousand times faster. "I knew you could do it, Mendes." She says. A warm feeling fills my body.

The tour has officially started.
