"You guys are such pervs." I replied. Tara held up both hands and just said, "I'm with Jake." Serena laughed and pointed at herself. "Brennen." "They're all perverts." Devyn said, giggling. "This is very true." Kat said. We all started laughing. Serena took a small notebook and pen from her purse and opened it on the table. "Ok, let's get started." For the next hour, we went over everything. Things that I didn't even know we should have to go over. By the time the hour was up, I had my head in my hands, ready to quit. "Now on to the guest list. Are you inviting your mom or anyone else from home?" Serena asked me. My head snapped up. "Of course I am. What kind of person would I be if I didn't invite my mom. Only...I haven't told her that I'm engaged yet..." I trailed off. "WHAT?" All of the girls exclaimed. "Why wouldn't you tell her?" Kat asked, shocked. I shrugged. "I don't know. She never approved of me getting married young last time. I just don't want to hear any bad things that she might have to say. It's taking all I have to keep my anxiety down and not keep telling the bad things to myself." I sighed and dropped my head back into my hands. "I have to tell her." My phone vibrated then, so I picked it up, checking the text. "Missed you not being in my arms when I woke up." I smiled, thinking about him sitting on the couch with no shirt on, messy hair, and sleepy blue eyes. "It must be Colby. She only gets that goofy look on her face when it's Colby." Serena said to the others. I picked up a sugar packet and threw it at her. "Shut it." They laughed. "I was right tho." I smiled and nodded. "Yeah, it's Colby." I texted him back. "Miss you now. Save me from S and her wedding overload!" "Seriously though y/n, you need to tell your mom soon. 4 months isn't that long and she needs to make plans, get a dress, plus accessories, book a flight..." Devyn said. "It's a lot in a short amount of time." I shook my head. "No, I'll get all of that for her. She doesn't really have the money. I'm still using what I have left of Nick's money just to get by. It'll be gone soon tho. I'm going to try and pay for some of the wedding stuff with it, just so Colby doesn't have to pay for everything." I replied. "I'll have enough get Mom what she needs though. I'll call her this evening." We left soon after that and I headed back home. Colby wasn't there when I got there but I found a little note taped to our bedroom door. "At Sam's. Come over. Always." He was just so damn cute. I pulled my phone out, thinking that I could go ahead and call my Mom really quick. It had been a while since I had spoken with her anyways. "Hey Mom," I said, when she picked. "Hey baby! It's so good to hear your voice! You know, you really should call me more often." I laughed. "I know Mom, I'm sorry. How've you been?" "Oh you know, my back hurts a little more than I'm used too, but I'm still going. Work is good. Do you remember Trish from your high school? She told me to tell you that she asked about you. She's doing good. Has a little baby boy now. Cute as can be." She just kept talking for a little while, only needing an occasional "mmhmm" or "that sounds nice," from me. Eventually, she took a break and I took my chance. "Mom, I have to tell you something." I said quickly, before she could start telling me about Mary that worked at the grocery store and her new dog. "What is it baby? It sounds serious." "It is Mom, but it's a good serious. I hope you think so too." "Well, don't keep me in suspense! What is it?" "You remember Colby. The guy that I told you about?" "Yeah, the one who helped you with Nick. You're dating right. Didn't you tell me that you moved in together a little while back?" That was a good sign. She remembered that and didn't tell me what a bad move it was. "Yes ma'am, I did. Well now he....he asked me to marry him Mom...and I said yes." I didn't hear anything on the other end of the phone. Complete silence for a moment before she spoke. "Are you happy?" She asked quietly. "I am Momma. Happier than I've ever been." "Is he a good man? Does he take care of you?" I smiled. She had never met Colby. She should've by now, I just never made the plans to go home. "He is and he does Momma." "Then I need to meet him and I'm so happy for you baby girl." I was kind of stunned. "You aren't going to tell me that I'm wrong, or too young, or making a mistake?" I asked. She chuckled. "No. You made your fair share of mistakes growing up, but you never made the same mistake twice. You're first marriage was the mistake. I don't see you doing it twice." "Fair point." I said laughing. "I can't wait for you to meet him Momma. He's kind and brave. He loves animals, and has this cute little laugh. His smile can light up an entire room, and his face...well, that can make any woman experience love at first sight." I heard her laughing on the other end of the phone. "What?" I asked. "What are you laughing at?" "Oh baby girl, you've got it bad. He's your one." I snapped my mouth shut. I had always admired my parents relationship when I was younger. Knowing that my mother loved him so much that she preferred to be alone the rest of her life, rather than try to find another companion because she loved him that much. I couldn't imagine being with anyone else. "I guess he is." I said quietly, thinking about that. "So when are you flying out to get me?" She asked, bringing me back to reality. "Oh...I just thought you could fly out here and we would meet you at the airport." She laughed hard at that.
