"I wore my Versace backless mini dress and put on my Louis Vuitton heels. My gold plated Rolex watch clung to my wrist perfectly as I shuffled towards my Lamborghini. Gosh I'm so nervous! The new school is really big and expensive! I wonder whether I'd fit in or not? I shake my head and the caked make up on my face forms cracks and fall on the pavement. Totally not make up goals!!!!111!!"
Yeah, relatable. Really relatable.
Now this is one scenario where you can't help but be like "what"? But then okay! we all are broke here on Wattpad and the author must be pretty rich so pointing this out must be like saying that you're poor yourself.
Sed lyf m8.
And is it just me or really, for the sake of making the MC #realistic the author ends up making him/her just plain #random?
Don't get me wrong, I love to read about characters who after getting their body slashed in half cry or scream etc and even those who lay around their house and do gain weight etc but the problem is...
In this race of making a character like-able or realistic or even relatable, many authors end up making them random and useless.
Hence instead of breaking few cliches, they create even more in their stories.
And according to me, I think nowadays people enjoy reading more about characters with strong personalities and beliefs instead of a character who can't even open a pickle jar.The key is to have balance. Don't make a character a wall flower nor an angry pregnant woman on her periods.
