I swear i'm studying, i just need a flipping break.

So, while studying chem i just had this random thought about a common error most writers make in many books that i have read here. Sometimes it is acceptable, yet, sometimes its kinds....what can i say..... off putting?

In better words, There are things out there which just requires you to straightforwardly "tell" something without writing paragraphs over paragraphs to describe it. Over the top descriptions which brings hindrance in your writing are never a good strategy and regardless of how vivid you are at explaining things, unfortunately, it bores the audience.

Since, would you rather read about how Blue Pineapple finally made a decision regarding her future with xavier or would you  instead read about her bawling her eyes out for 3 chapters straight at how much she loves xavier but can't have him because xavier is dating blue tomato.

If some action is going  on in those 3 chapters around her in terms of interactions and decisions then this is perfectly coolio~

But sometimes to push  a story you have to keep an equilibrium since if one element is in excess and the other is limiting then the story itself  kinda loses its color. It either ends up becoming a note or a piece of descriptive writing which has no end.

Like....

"Hey, I love you so much that i plan to get the government and legal authorities involved. It'll involve signing papers etc so that you never leave me alone and even if you plan to do so, you  will feel forever guilty about it!" Xavier beamed at bluepineapple who in response showed him the middle finger.

Okay, lets try again.

"Will you marry me?" Xavier beamed at blue pineapple who in response replied.

"No. im gay, bitch."

Better? in both cases we are of course talking about the same thing i.e marriage. And in this case describing it in such a  way seems kinda off putting. Ofcourse you can go about saying "Do you want me to be the one who is first to wipe your tears yada yada yada" sort of jizz, but, is it necessary?

In terms of being descriptive or indulging into details focus on quality over quantity.

Here are few books whose first chapter is stunning in terms of showing and telling. I'll add more of these books in the part 2 of this chappie:
