JK, I don't have 500K reads...

...but I certainly have your attention ;)

Though, do you want to thank your readers one day for 500K reads? If yes, then all you need are...

Readers!

(Somebody slap me for stating the obvious)

But, considering that slapping your book's link in various comment sections, message boards and dms makes you seem like a charity case; what should you do?

How can you promote your book?

1. Enter in to awards

At this point wattpad is brimming with awards of all sorts. We have the huge ones like the Wattys, and those which are run by the users themselves. When you enter into an award, you automatically gain reads by the judges and the reviewers. If you win, your book ends up in multiple reading lists which makes it easy for other peeps to discover you. Oftentimes such awards come with prizes like "A permanent reader till the book ends" which consequently keeps you motivated. Moreover, even if you don't win, you can always ask these Awards to send you the "review" or the "grades" your book received per category (i.e. cover, title, blurb etc.) Therefore, this is ultimately a win-win situation for you and your book. Since that critique or review can help you to improve your script for the next award.

If you know any award (or if you are running an active one) feel free to drop a link here for others to join in.   ==}

2. Review books

This one can be risky, 'cause if you got a (really) bad review, the readers of that review book might assume that your book isn't good enough. Some reviewers are harsh and some are not. But regardless, look for those who are delivering an "honest" critique with a good "reasoning" behind their grading.

i.e. If a reviewer says "I don't like Blue pineapple." without stating what is wrong with her and why they don't like her, believe me, they are not doing their job well. A reviewer, editor and an attack helicopter's job is to tell the author WHAT is wrong and HOW and WHY is it wrong.

Something much more simple like "I don't like blue pineapple because she is blue and she stole my non-existent fictional boyfriend." is much better than the previous "review" statement.

But on the contrary, if you get a good review, your book certainly gains readers fast. I remember when my previous book was still up (DGTNL) I got 5-6 readers from a review book. So yeah, this method can be a bit of hit or miss, but it is still beneficial.

3. The forums

You can download the wattpad community forum app on your phones or access it on a laptop or desktop. Tbh ever since my tablet broke down, I have been spending more time on the laptop. Therefore the "community" tab is mostly open. On wattpad community forums you can engage yourself in many ways like, they have games, contests, read-for-read threads, general chat threads and a lot more!

Just by making friends or partaking in activities will help you a ton.

Tbh the more you socialize and read, the more you'll get in return.

Which brings us to the second-last point

4. Read other books too

I am not asking you to force yourself to read any certain book, rather, every now and then, you should check out other books on this site too. It's an amazing opportunity to learn from other people's mistakes and achievements.

Do you hate the way the author described the MC?

Are you making the same mistake?

Well, now is the time to improve your book!

Which brings us to the last point.

5. Presentation plays a vital role

Therefore, is your cover catchy? If you are including multimedia, is it good enough? and finally, is your stuff readable and not like as if you threw bread crumbs on the keypad and few birds came to concoct the mumble-jumble you are calling a "story"?

Just look into some stuff and then you are all set!

P.s thank you so much for  21K reads. It honestly means a lot. :)

Love,

Lizzy
