After discussing the best ways to take care of Pokemon eggs until they hatch, Kukui excused them for a break. Everyone crowded around Lillie's desk to view the eggs after Luna brought hers over next to the Alolan Vulpix egg. "I wonder what'll hatch from it!" Ash exclaimed, oblivious to his half-sister's knowledge of the creature inside.

At first, Lillie seemed hesitant to touch it, but gradually became more comfortable with handling the egg. "I'm more curious as to where Luna's egg came from," she sighed, staring at the star-covered shell. "Did a Pokemon abandon it, or did someone drop it off, knowing a kind person here would take it in?"

"Good question!" Sophocles exclaimed, eyeing it. "Even the Principal didn't recognize what kind of Pokemon is in it! Maybe it's just a normal egg, like the kind we eat!" He began to poke the egg, but Luna whisked it away from his hands.

"Nope, there's definitely something alive in here!" She growled, ears flattening. "Nobody is going to try to fry and eat this egg without getting through me and my family first!"

"{She's right, shortie!}" Thunderclap exclaimed, glaring at Sophocles.

Poseidon whacked his brother with his fin-like tail. "{Be nice to our sister's friends, I'm sure he was only joking. No one would eat an egg given for a Pokemon-raising assignment!}"

Calming down after hearing her Water-Type brethren's comment, Luna set the egg back down on the desk gently, rubbing the top of it. "Poseidon's right. Everyone is going to work together to make sure whatever kind of Pokemon hatches from here will be happy and healthy, right?"

        "Of course," Kiawe agreed.

"Definitely!" Ash exclaimed, Pikachu crying in agreement.

The others nodded, continuing to care for the eggs until the Professor called them back to their seats. Lillie hugged her egg to her chest as Luna took her seat and re-handed her egg to Torch. Kukui began his next lesson. "As you know, in Alola we have Trial Captains and Kahunas. In other regions, however, there are eight Gym-Leaders, who, like Trial Captains, specialize in a specific type and give out rewards for beating them. All must be beaten for one to face off against the Elite Four."

Ash and Luna gave one another a knowing look, having faced many Gym Leaders in other regions before.

"Since Luna became the champion of the other regions in the past, would you mind sharing what it's like to face them? Advice coming from a strong trainer could certainly teach everyone something about Pokemon battling in other parts of the globe!"

Surprised, Luna stood up and walked to the front of the class. "If you think so, then I'd love to share!" She answered surely, letting her Eeveelutions stay to keep her seat warm. "We started our journey early thanks to growing up together and being related to the Professor, which is how we got to bypass the '12 and older to start a Pokemon journey' rule," Luna began.

"At first, battling was a challenge, but the more we fought together, the stronger we became. With bonds as strong as can be and a lot of work every day, we faced all eight of Kanto's gym leaders and defeated them, claiming their badges. Fighting a gym leader is really interesting, having to make a strategy to overcome the one they have. For example, the Water-Type leader Misty fights at a pool, so she has the upper hand being in her Pokemon's element like that!"

"How did you defeat her?" Lana asked, blue eyes wide.

Amber smiled knowingly at her sister, remembering that day. "I owe that one to my Leafeon sis. Naturally resisting Water-Type attacks, she found a way to make a vine platform to stand steadily on and wear down Misty's Starmie with. Finally winning was both satisfying and encouraging!" Luna described, fondly reliving memories of her younger self.

"Misty and Brock traveled with me through the Kanto region when I first began my journey there! She became much stronger throughout our travels, it's amazing how you beat her so easily!" Ash complimented.

"What kinds of advice would you give your fellow students if they wanted to challenge a Trial Captain or Gym Leader, Luna?" Kukui prompted.

"Know your Pokemon, certainly! Having a strong bond with them can make or break a battle. Using your knowledge of type strengths and weaknesses, having a diverse movepool, and caring for one another is the best advice I can give," Luna answered. "If you do double battles, make sure to have your Pokemon work together well, and you're almost sure to win! Practice makes perfect after all!~"

The others took in the information, whispering to one another new possible strategies. With a nod, the Professor allowed her to take a seat once more. "Those were some tips from a champion herself, wise words might I add. Adding on to what Luna said, let's focus the rest of today on strategy: how to outsmart your opponent even if you're outmatched."

Midnight giggled from beside Luna's desk. "{We're already masters at that!}"

"Got that right, sis," Luna replied under her breath so no one else would hear her.

"Type advantages are a glaring part of battling: everyone knows that fire beats grass, water beats fire, and so on. Like Luna said, having a diverse movepool on your Pokemon can cover a variety of different types and therefore a variety of different Pokemon. Learning about the different effects of moves can also be useful. Moves that can never miss or moves that inflict a status condition on your energy can give you an advantage."

As the Professor droned on about things Luna already knew, she drifted into her thoughts.
