After a fun and learning-filled day at the Pokemon School, finally the bell rang to dismiss everyone. Luna and Midnight waved everyone a goodbye. "It was great meeting you! See you tomorrow!"

        "Umbree! Umbreon!"

The two walked out together in the evening light, taking in the scenery. "Alola really is a great new place, isn't it, Midnight?"

        "Ummbree!" The shiny Eeveelution agreed.

"I wonder if the others have been sent over yet, that would be great! I'm sure Poseidon would love the ocean! Plus, with all these knew plants, Amber would feel at home in no time!" Luna added, breathing in the fresh Alolan air, as they appeared back on the street they rode Tauros down. "Our house should be right around here!"

Just as she expected, after passing a Pokemon Center, the little cottage they were staying in came into view. Luna and Midnight raced towards it, hopping up the porch and barging inside. "Hey mom!"

Luna's mom was seated on the couch, looking through a restaurant menu before looking up. "There you two are! How was your first day at Pokemon school?"

"It was amazing! Everyone is so nice, and there's so many things I've learned already about Alolan forms and Z-moves," Luna rambled, explaining in detail her experience with the place. "They even told me a few stories about Ash when he first arrived in Alola!"

"I'm glad to hear that, honey. Come look at this menu, I'm thinking of ordering some Alolan-style food, along with these treats called malasadas, an Alolan specialty! What would you like?" She responded, handing her daughter the menu.

Luna flipped through it, picking out what she wanted and let Midnight scan for her favorite flavor of berries. "When will Cloudy and my other Pokemon get here?" She asked once they finished deciding on their meal.

"I called my father right before you got in, he said your team will be over by tomorrow night and Cloudy should be here in the next few days. Now, why don't you go make yourself at home while I place our food order and go pick it up."

"Sounds great mom! See you when you get back!" Luna called as she stepped out onto the side porch, allowing her mom to pick up the phone to call the restaurant. She and her Pokemon stood out there for a while, feeling the last rays of the sun on them as it set. As her mom left the house to retrieve their food, Luna felt something land on her head. "What was that?" She muttered as she looked up, but saw nothing.

A half-eaten berry was on the ground, leading her to believe a Pokemon had just dropped it from one of the trees above. But when another fell down, she refused to believe it was just a coincidence. "Hey! Who keeps dropping berries on me?"

Nothing appeared from between the branches, though. Midnight was also staring up with confusion in her eyes. "Bree?"

"What is it, Midnight?" Luna questioned, looking at her Pokemon. "Do you see something that I can't-"

As she looked back up at the trees, a creature appeared in front of her. Suppressing a scream, Luna hopped backwards with her hands in front of her face. "What kind of Pokemon is that!?"

However, the creature didn't try to attack her. Instead, it spoke like a normal human. "I am Tapu Koko, the guardian of Melemele Island. I wish you no harm."

"You're one of the island guardians I've heard about!?" Luna asked excitedly, studying it.

"Indeed. I do not appear for just any trainer, only those I find worthy. You and your brother are both very capable and experienced trainers. I visited him when he first came to Alola as well. Here," he reached out a half-totem-covered hand to her. "This is a Z-Ring and Z-Crystal. While your brother was at first incapable of harnessing its power, I believe you can. Try it out when you most need it."

And with that, he handed her the items and zoomed off in a matter of seconds, leaving Luna with her mouth agape. "Midnight, that really happened, right?" She asked, staring at the gray bracelet and clear crystal in her palms. Hesitantly, she put the Z-Ring on and placed the crystal inside the holder, finding the diamond-shaped item fit perfectly.

After she took her other hand off it, it began to glow, lighting up the mostly-darkened porch before subsiding, leaving the now-reflective black Z-Ring holding a black and pale blue crystal, decorated with a fox-like face and yellow eyes.

"Ummmmbreee!" The Pokemon exclaimed happily, gazing from where the Island Guardian disappeared to Luna's gift.

"Well, if Tapu Koko believes in me, then I guess soon we'll have to try it out!"
