Chapter 68- Tapu Time

I am so sorry for the delay, my kits! Road work nearby my house led to broken wires underground, which led to my house's wifi getting shut off for a week straight. I couldn't post chapters for this or Colors in the Dark, or even work on chapters for them, which broke my heart. Really glad to be back now that that's all over, so I hope you enjoy the new chapter as much as I do!

"Gleam, do you mind using Life Dew on Tapu Koko to help him regain strength? If I'm to win this battle, I want to have earned it, not taken advantage of his exhaustion," Luna instructed, her shiny Gardevoir nodding and using the healing move to help the Island Guardian recover.

"This is the first time I am meeting one of your Pokemon aside from your brothers and sisters," Tapu Koko murmured. Luna had noticed he spoke not quite in human language, but not quite in the tongue of Pokemon, either. More like a mixture of the two, in a way that made it seem like neither at the same time.

Luna nodded. "Being in Alola has taught me much, including to enjoy the company of those I hold dear to me. We've begun training harder than ever, and both Lunalox and I are learning more about our forms every day. Are you ready for the battle to begin?"

Mystic once asked me what I saw in this girl. What I saw? A soul who was already bonded to her Pokemon without the need for a Z-Move to tie them together, and when she finally used one to bring out the strongest possible bond with her Pokemon... her life was forever changed. In Luna... I saw someone just like us, tied to Pokemon just as much as she was tied to humans.

Tapu Koko- Shane, as he was known in what felt like another lifetime- stood up. "Yes, Luna. I am ready for our battle." Show me everything you've got; go beyond the limits that have been placed on you and demonstrate the true power a soul belonging to two worlds is truly capable of!

"Alright, then let the battle begin!" Luna and Lunalox walked in stride to the opposite side of the battlefield, while he hovered over his side.

From the crowd, Luna's classmates cheered for her, Kukui giving her a thumbs up and Cloudy waving her arms in the air excitedly as she chanted her sister's name. Dozens of other kids and even visitors were in the crowd, all excited to see where the battle would lead, and what the new species of Pokemon discovered could do in an attempt to beat the Island Guardian.

Electric Terrain activated thanks to his Electric Surge ability, sending energized tremors through the ground and shocks into the air. "Lunalox, start us off with a hearty Powder Snow!"

The canid let out a yip of compliance and send a wave of snow and cold air and the Island Guardian, who was quick to shock away any that got near, letting it grow into a Discharge attack.

"Counter it with Dark Pulse!"

The wave of Dark-Type energy just managed to protect the young Pokemon from the worst of the move, leaving both Tapu Koko and Lunalox relatively unharmed.

"Now, use Bite!"

Tapu Koko smacked the Pokemon away with his armor-covered arm-wing, though Lunalox caught herself before she could fall to the ground and instead continued to hover, staring at the legendary Pokemon curiously.
