As they made their way into town, Luna saw Lillie looking at her Vulpix and talking quietly to it. Even with her good hearing, she couldn't tell what they said, but after a moment they stopped in the middle of the road and smiled.

She, Mallow, Ash, and there Pokemon stopped and hid around the corner to watch. "Looks good to me," Ash noted.

Mallow sighed, relieved. "Thank goodness."

Luna turned to the girl. "You sure care a lot about Lillie, huh? You came all that way when she started taking care of the egg?"

The greenette giggled softly. "I guess I've always been kind of a busybody, but Lillie cares for Pokemon so much! Who wouldn't want to help her live with Pokemon and be happy? Don't ya think, Bounsweet!?"

"{Spot on!}"

"Got it!" Ash and Luna exclaimed together before laughing. "You always seem to know what I'm thinking, huh little sis?"

"And you always know what I'm thinking, big bro," Luna answered.

"{Bro?}" Lunalox asked inquisitively.

"Yes, bro as in brother. A brother is a boy who has the same mom and dad as you! Or in mine and Ash's case, just the same dad," the Pokegirl explained thoughtfully.

Suddenly, Rotom Dex flew forward with a mechanical gasp. "You can talk about that some other time!"

Mallow gasped as well when she looked forward. "Lillie and Snowy are gone!"

"Oh, no," Luna groaned. They were so busy talking that they forgot to watch for where the girl was going.

"We goofed," Rotom Dex summarized.

"{Want me to go scout ahead for her?}" Midnight asked.

Luna nodded. "Thanks, sis."

The Umbreon put her nose to the ground and ran forward, tracking Lillie and Snowy. "What's she doing?" Ash asked.

"She's going to follow Lillie and Snowy's scent until she finds them and then come back and tell us where they are!" Luna exclaimed.

Meanwhile, Midnight was on her mission. She passed dozens of shops and crossed over different streets. How far could they have gone in such a short amount of time!?

Then, an overwhelmingly good scent wafted through the air, and Midnight came to a malasada shop. Outside were casually-dressed Team Rocket members. "They're so scrumpchy!" Jessie exclaimed, in a food-enduced trance.

"I think she's still grieving because we missed out on our chance to win a year's supply of all-you-can-eat pancakes for free," James muttered. With wide eyes, Midnight leapt behind a bush and out of the villains' sights.

"{These guys again? Can't they just leave Lu alone?}" She muttered to herself. However, once she peered back out at them and through the shop window, she could see the faint outline of Lillie and Snowy walking inside, with the grunts and their Pokemon oogling her Alolan Vulpix from the doorway. "{I guess we might have to run into them after all,}" she sighed before turning around and running back.

"Midnight said she saw Lillie right around here," Luna said as they approached the Malasada shop. Her shiny Umbreon sister had quickly explained under her breath that Team Rocket had caught sight of her in the shop, and from the corner of her eye Luna could see the two humans, the Meowth, and the Wobbuffet looking inside.

"Strange. They couldn't have just disappeared," Rotom Dex reasoned.

Mallow held Bounsweet closer to her chest. "Maybe they turned onto another street? It's been a few minutes since Midnight saw them, so they must have kept walking."

The Umbreon frowned softly before softly shaking her head so that only Luna and Torch could see. The girl and the villains were both still at that shop.

"Okay. Rowlet, I choose you!" Ash exclaimed before releasing the Grass- and Flying-Type ow; knocking Luna from her stupor. "I want you to go look for Lillie and Snowy."

"{If you say so, it's done!}" He hooted before twisting his head around and flying away.

"Yeah, my Pokemon and I will look around for her here. Why don't you two go and check out the next few streets?" Luna told them, silently urging them to walk away.

Pikachu gave her a questioning glance, having heard her and Midnight's exchange, but didn't press them further. "You're right," Mallow said, "If we split into groups we're sure to find her! I'll go with Ash and Rotom Dex, Rowlet can look from the skies, and you and your Pokemon can be the last group!"

As they began to walk away while Luna pretended to walk down another street, as soon as they were out of sight, she came back out. She marched over behind the Team Rocket members and hissed quietly, catching James' attention.

He was about to speak, but Luna put a finger to her mouth and glared, so he kept his mouth sealed about them. "Oh, I think I see a wild Pokemon. Can you three keep an eye on the twerp's friend while I go check it out?"

Jessie nodded without looking back to him, allowing him to duck behind the shop where Luna had gone. "What the hell are you doing, stalking Lillie!?" She hissed at James.

"Jessie's gung-ho about stealing her Alolan Vulpix, and she's not wrong about the boss wanting something as rare and beautiful," he explained sadly. "You know I don't want to do work for them, right?"

"Whatever. Stay away from my friends."

"Brunch is still on, right?" He asked.

Luna rolled her eyes. "Yes. Sunday, after my press conference."

Lunalox stared at the purple-haired young man. "{Who??? Boy???}"

"What kind of a Pokemon is that!?" James asked, suddenly aware that the Pokemon in Luna's arms was not one of her Eeveelutions but a species he had never seen before.

"Shhhhh! This is Lunalox, and if you tell anyone about her, I'm sending my girls after you," Luna told him quickly. She looked down at the Pokemon in her arms and gave a small smile. "This is James, and he's kind of a bad guy, but sadly he's the only bad guy who sometimes listens when I ask them to back off from my friends."

Just then, she could see Jessie, Meowth, and Wobbuffet also hide around the corner of the building, though they all kept their eyes facing towards the street. Luna tensed up before ducking behind an AC unit, leave James to let out a confused mumble.

Jessie whipped around. "James, there you are!" She whisper-yelled. "The twerpette and her pretty Vulpix are getting away! We have to follow them!"

James turned around to give the now-hidden Luna a grimace. "Coming, Jessie."

Team Rocket slipped out from behind the building, presumably after Lillie.

"Luuu?" Lunalox asked, looking up at the disappointed Luna.

The Pokegirl shook her head. "When I said sometimes listens, I meant it. Now, let's go keep an eye on Lillie to make sure the Rockets won't mess with her."
