That morning was a Sunday, the only day they had off from school. Luna woke up early to fix breakfast with her family before heading out in her usual bright clothes. She and her Eeveelution sibs were walking towards Iki Town to find the Kahuna to ask him about the Trial and Grand Trial.

It took them a while, as the only description of him was "he looks like a kahuna!" Yes, very helpful, Ash.

Finally, they happened upon a large elderly man, with furrowed eyebrows and a bushy mustache, tan skin, and a head of spiky white hair. He was in a vibrant blue shirt with a yellow open robe on top, with white flower designs. He also wore a white fabric, tied in a knot around his stomach, and white shorts and flip-flops.

"Are you Kahuna Hala?" She asked, Henri on her head and the others beside her.

He turned around to face her, giving a wide grandpa-esque grin. "I am indeed. What is it you need, child?"

"I was wondering about the trials, and what I must do to pass them so I can complete my grand trial." she explained, taking note of his gruff but friendly voice.

Kahuna Hala put a hand up to his chin. "The trials, eh? Let me think... ah yes. We've been having a bit of a problem with a horde of Rattata and Raticate lately, the same one that Ash scared away not long ago, who keep invading the town's supply of food. If you can find a way to stop them without just defeating them in battle, you'll be enlisted for the grand trial, and you might just earn a Z-Crystal along the way."

"Hmm, Rattata you say?" Luna pondered. She supposed they were the Alolan variants: the Normal- and Dark-Types. Especially weak to Fighting and also weak to Fairy and Bug, but immune to Psychic and Ghost. "Alright Mr. Kahuna Hala sir, I'll see what we can do about it!"

She and the Eeveelutions began to head back. "How to we get rid of a Rattata colony?"

"{I'd say we research them: if we find something they are afraid of or that threatens them, we'll have a much easier time defeating them,}" Raven suggested.

"{And then we just take out the rest at their hiding spot! It's foolproof,}" Thunderclap assessed. "{So... who wants to be the one doing the research?}"

Luna and her siblings ended up in the local library, reading up on Alolan Rattata and Raticate behaviors and history. So far they hadn't come up with anything useful.

"{Why do they want me to care about the color or length of their rat fangs!?}" Amber yowled as she finished another book with nothing. "{This is getting ridiculous!}"

"{She's got a point,}" Snow Queen agreed. "{We've been here an hour and the only important thing we know is type matchup, which we came in here knowing. At this point, our best bet is to storm their colony and overwhelm them, or even just try to talk them out of it!}"

Henri, Poseidon, Torch, Thunderclap, Amber, and Midnight nodded in agreement, but Raven and Elise were both still reading and searching.

"Uh, you two okay?" Luna asked her two oldest sisters. The two primarily-white Pokemon seemed to ignore her. "Raven, Elise, I'm serious."

Raven silenced her. "{We might have found something. Let us finish reading, then we'll share.}"

The girl went around too look over their shoulders. It was some sort of old traditional journal, and the handwriting was quite messy, not to mention horrible spelling. She assumed it was written by a child, or at least she hoped it was.

        April 12

Those Rattata stole our grain again. Mum is very angery, seeing as beefore the pale men got here, the rats weren't here eether. She says they brot them on their ship and they're now 'invaysiv" or sumthing. The Yungoos are fiting back against the rats, tho, so maybee we can wake up to grain for brekfist sum day.

        "Yungoos?" Luna asked.

"{I think that Yungoos became the natural predators of Rattata and Raticate when they were introduced,}" Elise speculated. "{If we get the help of some Yungoos and Gumshoos, then we can drive the Rattata out!}"

As the others read the journal entry, Luna scratched Elise behind the ears, holding the shiny Sylveon's ribbon in her hand. "Great job figuring that out, Ellie."

She purred, rubbing against Luna affectionately. "{Any time, little sis.}"

Luna gave Raven a pat as well, though she knew the Espeon wasn't one for especially cuddly moments like the others. "The only question now is how to do we find enough Yungoos to put an end to these Rattata's and Raticate's raids?"

The group gave a collective groan: they'd have to look through another hundred books to figure it out.
