Well, not identical, but very very similar. Luna's fur was tan fading to light blue, while the hatchling's was light purple fading to blue, and Luna's mane-like fur was a lot shorter and puffier than Lunalox's.
"It's you! Or, you're it? Luna, that Pokemon is almost exactly the same as your Pokemon form!" Rotom Dex cried. "I thought it was familiar, but I dismissed it when I realized there was no data for it. But now..."
"Luu?" The hatchling asked. Luna shifted back into human form, now sitting with her legs crossed on the desk.
"What does this mean?"
The Pokemon stood up, walking into her lap and folding her wings down to her side. She nuzzled Luna, trying to calm the upset Pokegirl.
"Well, I think it's deserving of a name! Vulpix are Vulpix and Pikachu are Pikachu, but this little one doesn't even have a species to associate with!" Mallow exclaimed.
"She's right," Kiawe said quietly. "It looks kind of like a fox, minus the wings."
"And it's the same Pokemon as Luna in her Pokemon form!" Sophocles added.
Cloudy put a finger to her temple. "What about something like... Lunalox?"
At the mention of it, the hatchling's ears raised and it turned towards Cloudy. "Luuu?"
Professor Kukui, who had been silent ever since Lillie almost touched Snowy, smiled wide. "It seems to already like that. It says Lu after all, so what better name for it?"
"Lu!!!" The Pokemon, the Lunalox, cried. "Lu lu lu!"
Luna began to stroke its head. "What do you two think?" She asked her older brother and same-aged sister. The Flareon hopped up onto the desk to get a better look, and he and Lunalox locked eyes.
"Lu?"
"{Torch. Flareon. Nice to meet you, Lunalox.}" He held out a paw to shake, which Lunalox hesitantly took. Torch shook the Pokemon's paw before letting her go.
Midnight joined them. "{And I'm Midnight, Luna's trusty Umbreon!}"
"{Mih... nigh?}" It asked.
"{Miiiiiid. Niiiiight. Midnight,}" The Umbreon repeated, stretching the syllables out.
"Uh, what are they doing?" Ash asked.
Luna put a finger to her lips. "Lunalox is learning how to say Midnight!" She whisper-yelled.
"{Mih. Nigh. T.}"
"{Eh, close enough,}" Midnight decided. "{Now, what about Torch? Tor, ch. Like that, see?}"
Lunalox smiled as she clapped her front paws together. "{Tor chee, tor chee! Mih nigh tee mih nigh tee!!}"
