Instantly, the Synchro-Mega Umbreon zipped forward, landing a dozen sudden blows on the unsuspecting Camerupt, shocking it just in time, so the beginning of the Earthquake petered out.

Luna breathed a momentary sigh of relief, but it was short-lived. Now what do I do?!

Once again, the brunette felt trapped, stuck helplessly watching Midnight and Lunalox in front of her, who stared back expectantly- the former could probably fight and win the entire battle single-handedly, but she was only permitted to do what her trainer instructed.

"Okay!" She exclaimed, "now use... uhm, Throat Chop! Lunalox, Moonblast!"

The two followed through, but Camerupt was hardly bothered, shaking the attacks off like it was nothing. And, when Midnight returned to Luna's side of the battlefield, she was panting hard. After a few moments, she sank to the ground, and her Synchro-Mega form dissipated, leaving only the shiny Umbreon's regular form.

Whatever adrenaline rush she had to keep her going before finally failed. Midnight's yellow eyes looked up pleadingly, as if to say I'm sorry I failed you, Luna. I vowed I'd never let you down again, and yet here I am. The results of her wounds, courtesy of her earlier injuries, were glaringly obvious now, blood trickling down over dull black fur.

"You did so well," Luna whimpered as she fell to her knees beside her partner, repeating the phrase over and over again. "I'm so proud of you, sis. It'll be okay. It'll be okay..."

It felt like slow motion as Midnight's eyes fell shut, breathing slowing down- it was still far too labored for a Pokemon that had been knocked out. Luna looked up slowly with a fire burning in her heart. Regardless of how well she could perform, regardless of who she fought, that very moment set something new aflame in her.

Luna stood up silently. The onlookers were all silent, unsure how their former champion would act.

Her vivid true blue eyes looked down to Lunalox, whose own, slightly-lighter ones stared back, mirroring the girl's new fiery determination. Luna nodded once; Lunalox did the same.

"Lunalox, we're gonna try something new, okay!?" She shouted, making sure her voice carried to everyone around, including Courtney and her Mega Camerupt. Lunalox chirped in response, stepping forward with a solemn paw. "Okay, follow my lead!"

The girl jumped into a battle stance and enacted the pose that usually signified a Thunderbolt was coming.

"Like Magnet Rise, but focus it into an attack, just like Thunderclap would! We need energy!"

The winged canine mimicked her posture, sparks flying around her, but more focused than the one Electric-Type move she knew. "{Like Thwundy would do!}" She exclaimed triumphantly, rearing onto her back paws before slamming them back down.

The soil that was hit by the attack was shaken, the resulting energy from the attack fanning through the ground as sonic energy that hung in the air above them. "Now, the ground is loose, so use your tail to smack it into the air!" Luna instructed.

"Enough of this silliness; you're just prolonging the battle and delaying the inevitable! Camerupt and I will be victorious!" Courtney cut in, as if finally shaken from her stupor. "Use Fissure!"

"Wait for it, and..." As the powerful attack was sent through the ground, beginning to split the very earth in front of them open, the dirt was suddenly launched into the air before Lunalox even needed to use her tail. "NOW! LEAP AND BLAST IT!"

Just before the crack could appear under Lunalox, open up the ground, and swallow her whole, the galactic Pokemon used her powerful haunches to launch herself in the air. Energy appeared around her as she quickly charged up an attack, which appeared in shades of vibrant blue and white. A silver silhouette, a haunting afterimage, floated behind her for just a moment, gleaming before dissipating like the eyes of a storm.

As Lunalox reached the zenith of her jump, she flapped her wings once with a mighty force. A wind more powerful than even Lugia's fated Aeroblast swept through the air, sending the dirt in freefall toward Mega Camerupt like bullets. They pummeled toward it and made impact with resounding cracks, as if breaking the sound barrier in a single attack.

It was so strong that the Fire- and Ground-Type was knocked over, and Courtney was knocked backwards as well. Luna stared in utter shock. While the attack had been incredibly powerful, Newton's Third Law of Motion wasn't amused; Lunalox was hit by such a powerful kick, a result from her own attack, and had been blown backward into the truck of a tree.

The aftermath was quiet again, but not in grief. This time, it was shock that kept everyone shut up.
