Chapter 80- The Distraction Attack-tion

So I'm not dead!! School has just been kicking me in the butt lately and technological issues have not helped! I would've had this chapter out yesterday if I didn't have an entire essay delete itself last night- I had to rewrite the entire thing in under an hour to turn it in on time! Which worked me to the bone.

...And instead of being nice and giving you guys an explanation for any of the recent chaos in this story... with more cliffhangers! If all is well, I'll have the next chappy out on time, and it'll at least provide you guys with a little bit of clarity ;)

The group held their breath as James walked inside, thankfully getting past the guards without much trouble. They waited another few moments before charging.

"{Hiiiiiiiiiya!}" Amber and Henri cried, the Eevee and shiny Leafeon the first to burst from the woods, running full-speed at the grunts. They looked up from their posts at the sound, confused, until those expressions melted into shock as they saw and army of Pokemon charging the base. The two youngest Eeveelution siblings started off with a band, Sappy Seed and Leaf Blade coming together to temporarily stun their opponents.

"{FIRE! DO YOUR WORST, EVERYBODY!}" Thunderclap yowled, zipping across the ground quick as lightning and nipping one of the guards on the ankle before using Thunder Shock on the other. The first let out a cry of pain before dashing inside, the second one wailing at the sharp leaves slicing at his exposed skin and the electricity sent through his body before falling onto his knees.

Soon, more grunts and there Pokemon were charging outside and alarms were going off inside the building, and the grass field around the base was a battlefield. Those who could were putting up as many protective barriers as they could, Light Screens, Reflects, Safeguards, and anything else they could manage keeping the army of Pokemon out of harm's with the help of healing moves way while others utilized spread moves.

Tyrant stomped as he charged a group of grunts, the Sevipers, Sneasels, and Houndours falling from Earthquake while the remaining Zubats, Golbats, and Murkrows were taken out by Rock Slides from Blaze and Heat Waves from Vice. Blitz rounded them up, the Blaziken using Stone Edge to get them out of the way, safe from further harm but also stranded atop the large rocky pillars.

Raven and Elise were playing mind games with the grunts left standing, the shiny Sylveon distracting them with Baby-Doll Eyes while the day-color Espeon used her psychic power to toss them into each other, knocked out cold but, aside from some bruising, relatively unharmed.

Blue, Cloudy's shiny Staraptor, was working together with Gust to throw up small tornadoes of Flying-Type energy, catching unsuspecting grunts as they ran in or out of the door and tossed them into the air, vulnerable to the former's Quick Attack or the latter's Dragon Rage.

Anyone who tried escaping through the forest had to get through the ultimate duo of Poseidon and Snow Queen, the Vaporeon tripping those attempting to flee with Aqua Tail and Aurora Beam, giving the elder Glaceon a chance to freeze them with her Frost Breath- or, if that failed, her Ice Shard could pick off anyone too quick for them to catch on foot.

While Thunderclap continued his ruthless assault, zapping anything that moved with Thunderbolts, Torch kept his stance, Will-O-Wisp-ing any Pokemon that were giving his siblings a hard time or launching Fire Blasts at grunts that threatened to overpower Cloudy. He even had to use Superpower on a nasty Alolan Raticate that wouldn't stop gnawing on his hind leg from the second it got close enough, though the blow quickly had it KO'd.

Cloudy, though she was frequently the target of grunts trying to tackle her, had both Raze and the dynamic duo of Danger and Spike to look out for her. The Chesnaught often caught attacks she couldn't dodge in time with a Spiky Shield, while Raze sent off Air Slashes, Thunder Waves, and Dazzling Gleams while healing herself with Roost. Cloudy raised her wrist with a smirk and activated her Key Stone. "Danger, Judi, Mecca, heed my calls and let our hearts connect in this battle! Mega Evolve!"

The Megas Absol, Lucario, and Metagross emerged looking stronger than ever, will to fight renewed with the passion of their trainer fighting at their side.

Judi and Mecca together were the undaunting Steel-Types, tanking hit after hit and increasing their power with Power-Up Punches. It only took a few Meteor Mashes, Zen Headbutts, and Extreme Speeds to annihilate anything in their paths, high-fiving their respective partners as they flattened the competition. Gleam was there for the Mega Lucario, using Heal Pulse if he began to tire while keeping up the protective barriers. Platinum captured the Yungoose and Rattata attempting to sneak up on her Mega Metagross comrade in her Energy Ball, letting out a single Ember and letting the fire given them a merciful knockout, saving her powerful Hexes and hot, blue-flamed Overheats for the larger and more difficult to beat foes.

There was no doubt that they'd prevail, having easily swept leagues of grunts and their stolen Pokemon, when a gigantic net was suddenly thrown over the entire battlefield from above. The second it hit, everyone- people and Pokemon, the attacking army and the Rocket grunts, it didn't matter- was suddenly hit by a high-voltage shock delivered through the netting. Even Electric-Types like Thunderclap were affected.

They were all frozen inside the hard material, looking through the mesh to see a large Rocket helicopter flying above them. There had been so much fighting that no one had been able to hear it before, but now, with everyone on the ground and paralyzed, it was deafening.

Those with decent eyesight could just about make out a dark-haired figure inside the chopper holding a small pink creature in his hands, fingers tight around its throat, caught in a chokehold with no way of escaping.

Salem... how did Giovanni catch you? What did you do to us? WHERE IS MY SISTER!?

Cloudy struggled against the material, but she could hardly move, and everything hurt. Her Pokemon's Mega Evolutions disappeared in a flash, and even as they tried to break through with various types of attacks, nothing would work. Not even the sharpest claws or teeth could snap the material, no amount of heat would melt it, not even the powerful Psychic-Types could manage to break it with their abilities.

Our plan was perfect... and yet we failed. How did he know we'd be here...? And where... are James and Midnight!?
