"If you ask me, I'd say Rockruff is trying to learn Rock Throw," Professor Kukui mused as the class reached the beach, with Ash having already run ahead to begin training with Rockruff.

"{A pretty basic Rock-Type move; a staple for any young Pokemon of the type. The Professor's probably right!}" Midnight exclaimed as she, Luna, and Lunalox began to walk a few paces away.

"Rock Throw, huh?" Luna asked as she watched the rocks around Rockruff's neck glow white as it tried to use the move, to no avail.

Lunalox tilted her head before the star patterns on her back glowed, and suddenly she fired a barrage of rocks towards her trainer. Luna nearly shrieked, instinctively switching to Pokemon form to duck under them. "{Rock?}" The young Pokemon asked hesitantly.

The rest of the students gasped. "I didn't know Lunalox already learned Rock Throw!" Lillie exclaimed. Snowy was in her arms, but the Alolan Vulpix looked ready to jump down and practice a move of her own.

Luna shook her head as she tried to get the sand out of her thick fur. "I didn't either. That's twice now she's learned the same move as one of your guys' Pokemon. Strange indeed."

Meanwhile, that Thursday morning, Ash and Pikachu were rolling around, wagging their rear ends in the air and wildly flailing their heads around to help simulate Rockruff's move. They looked utterly ridiculous, but that was Ash.

Cloudy and Kiawe were discussing his strange tactics while Turtonator and Raze watched the weird boy and the two Pokemon. Mallow, Lana, and Lillie were gathered around Snowy, who had finally weaseled her way out of the blonde girl's arms and landed softly on the beach.

"Lunalox," Luna said softly, "Why don't we go further down the beach so you can practice using your moves?"

"{Moves! Pracis pracis!}" The unique species yipped, beginning to run down the sandy shore before her trainer and Midnight chased after her. Luna sent a thumbs up to the Professor, letting him know where she was going. "{Say... Rock Tho! Use Rock Tho!}"

"Yes, you can use Rock Thr- woah!" Before the words were even out of Luna's mouth, once again Lunalox's patterned fur glowed, and another barrage of rocks was sent flying into the water. She could hear the upset wails of the Water-Type Pokemon that were nearly hit. "Uh, do you just use the move as soon as I say it?"

Nodding, the young Pokemon did a sort of downward-dog pose and growled at the sand. "{At tick with Rock Tho!}"

"{It's pronounced 'attack.'}" Midnight corrected quietly. "{Lu, if she can't control when she uses a move one you say it, things could get bad. Imagine we're in class talking about a move and suddenly she just leaps up and hits someone with a move?}"

"You have a point, Mid. That's why we're here, right? To help her learn to control her moves!" Luna reasoned. "Alright Lunalox, try Powder Snow!"

This time, the sand-fighting Pokemon leaned her head back before spraying a thick sheet of ice over the sand. "{I beated sand with Powdee Sno!}"

"{Yeah, that sand is definitely gonna be trapped in that ice for a while until it melts,}" the shiny Umbreon confirmed. "{Let's see, see if she can do a Dark-Type move, since that's what I'm best at.}"

"Hmm...," Luna thought. "Lunalox, why don't you try something easy, like the chomping move Midnight will demonstrate?" Midnight nodded in agreement, using Bite as her gleaming fangs snapped the air in front of her. "It's called Bite!"

"{Bight?}" The Pokemon asked. Then, her fangs gleamed, and she spun around, facing away from the frozen sand, and bit right into the tiny stones. "{Sand is yucky.}"

Luna and Midnight slowly shook their heads. "I didn't mean bite the sand..."

However, upon hearing the word "bite" again, Lunalox's fangs gleamed and she unwillingly took another Bite of sand.

"Sorry, sorry, not what I meant! Now I have to be really careful about what I say," Luna apologized. "Next time, maybe use your move on some driftwood instead so you don't hurt yourself. At least for now you only know three moves."

"{I can use thee moves! Yay!}" Lunalox exclaimed, pumping a paw into the air. "{Rock Tho and Powdee Sno and Bight!}"

Midnight had sat down and put a paw on her muzzle. "{She knows an Ice-Type move, a Rock-Type move, and a Dark-Type move, and she can probably learn a lot more if we just say the words. It's almost like somewhere in her genes she has access to every move as soon as her trainer says the name of it.}"

"So you think if I just randomly say a move, even one exclusive to a certain Pokemon, Lunalox can just, poof, use it?" Luna asked. "That sounds crazy! Awesome, but crazy!"

"{Maybe not. So far every time she's used a move, she's seen another Pokemon either perform it or fail to perform it. Ask her to do a move she's never seen before but that I know,}" the Umbreon suggested.

"Good idea. Lunalox, use Double Team!" However, the fox-like Pokemon only tilted her head.

"{I no know Dubble Tem}" She admit sadly.

Luna looked to Midnight, who stood up. Suddenly, a dozen copies of the shiny Umbreon appeared in a circle around them. Lunalox ran up and pounced on one of the new ones, but it disappeared upon making contact, as it wasn't real. Once the other copies disappeared, Midnight sat back down.

"Now, Lunalox, Double Team!" The champion Pokegirl commanded, and this time her Pokemon nodded solemnly. Lunalox closed her eyes in concentration before a bunch of copies of her appeared around them, similar to how Midnight had done it.

"{Dubble Tem, Dubble Tem!}" The hatchling cheered as she opened her eyes to see the move's success.

"I guess we were right, Mid," Luna told her practically-twin, who folded her tail nearly around her paws as Lunalox continued to dance around her projections. "Now what?"

A voice rang from beside the beach. "You want me to catch Rockruff!?"

Midnight stifled a laugh. "{I think Ash has answered that question for us. Come along, Lunalox, let's go check on the others.}"
