Chapter 66

"Daddy." Jessica said down the phone in a voice which wasn't hers that one word made the breath catch in my throat and my heart seemed to stop. She hadn't called me that god I couldn't even remember. Dad had stopped after she turned about five but Daddy. My poor little girl I could hear her fear.

"Jessie Princess." I said gently. "Are you Okay?" As Jamie all but flung himself across the room with a growl, I shot him an Alpha glare, which froze him in place. But I could see him still twitching as though he still wanted to lean over and snatch the phone right out of my hand. Jessica began to gabble quickly in what after a few seconds I recognised as Russian , cursing myself for the rustiness of my language comprehension I jabbed the speakerphone hoping one of my assembled sons would-be able to recall it later for translation.

"Okay that's enough." Said a girl's voice it sounded like my daughter but it wasn't my daughter. "Satisfied?"

"Put my daughter back on the phone." I snapped loudly,

"Ouch that hurt." She said "and the answers no. you know that's her, you know she's fine so stop messing around." I watched Jamie twitch and turn away glaring. Ashton was sitting across the study from me propped up by multiple pillows looking thoroughly sick but his eyes were locked on the computer on his lap in front of him as though he could bring the picture to life. He had doing this pretty much since I had called the two of them down here and showed them the email. Bloody emails it didn't half make kidnapping more efficient though.

"What do you want Bethany?" I said forcing calm into my voice.

"Where's Derek?" she purred, "I'd like to talk to him, and I'm sure Jessica would too." She giggled lightly "do you know she says his name in her sleep."

"Derek was the first word she learnt to say." I snapped through clenched teeth, "She's been whispering it in her sleep since she was two you know that." I growled,

"Actually he probably would even want to talk to her now would he. I mean she's been fucking with him hasn't she." Bethany said lightly. "We've been having a chat my god she's fucked up. What the hell did you do to her?" I growled deep in my throat.

"I want my daughter, what do you want?"I said slowly.

"One thing daddy." She said lightly, "I want to destroy the pack." I growled "But I'll settle for money. I wish I could have some loftier purpose but in the end I'll settle for the money. So I'll tell you what I'm thinking of a number there is a one and six zero's you think that through. Until then me and Jess are going to catch up."

"Bethany, Bethany." I shouted into the receiver despite knowing it was no good she had hung up. I replaced the receiver and sighed running a hand through my hair my head hung. I just wanted to cry all these years of being Alpha did nothing I just wanted to crawl into a ball and cry what a strong leader I was. But what could I do, it wasn't the money we had the money but it was the fact that I knew Bethany didn't want money, what she did want was what she said she wanted to destroy the pack, and she knew what killing Jessie would do. She had my daughter and she knew she knew there wasn't anything I wouldn't do for her. I would tear the pack apart to get her back. I just didn't know how. And then of course there was that voice in the back of my head that whispered even if I found my daughter there was no guarantee that she would want to see me. Not just because she had run away again (Derek seemed Emphatic that she would return) it was because what I had done, there was a chance my lies would alienate my daughter forever.

"What did she say?" I growled keeping my eyes locked on the wooden surface of my desk.

"Stay away." A voice said quietly I looked up sharply to see Dean lingering next to the door lounging against the bookcase, I hadn't even noticed him arrive. "She said stay away. They'll kill me anyway, stay away. I love you all." I sighed and ran my hands roughly through my short hair.

"You speak Russian?" Jamie asked clearly baffled,

"Jessie when I was stuck here after my tibia snapped," He said flicking his hand dismissing the broken bone, "I learn pretty quickly."

"Are you feeling better?" I asked gently, Dean snorted,

"No...I actually feel like shit." Dean snapped with a sigh, "Derek knocked me out stole my Porsche and went out to rescue our kidnapped sister who has called and begged us not to because her kidnappers want to destroy our entire family. "So yeah shit seems like a pretty accurate description of where I am right now." Dean said flopping down onto the sofa next to Ashton. Who was flexing his hands clearly at the edge of beginning to shift. I rubbed my hand roughly across my forehead. We had noticed the peremeter breach the seocnd Jessie opened the gate and so we had quikly found Derek and headed out looking for her but she was already gone. Derek had emphatically said she was coming back but then hours had passed night had come and my daughter hadn't returned. As The early morning light began to seep into my study my email pinged and there it was. Derek had instantly become frantic. Dean had been instructed to take him to the cage while he calmed down and Derek had followed meekly as a lamb. However it seemed he wasn't inclined to calm down in the cage.

"Dean go get them to activate the GPS On your Porsche I want to know where Derek is."

"You think he'll have found her."

"He'll find her." I said gently as Dean left the room.

"Your still going after her?" Ashton asked but his tone made it clear he didn't disagree with that course of action he was just asking.

"Why don't you just pay her?" Jamie snapped,

"I will I'll pay it happily, I'll fucking gift wrap it if she wants. But I don't think she wants money, she wants to hurt us. I have to have us ready, its Bethany her threats are real."

"So you do know her." Jamie said gently, I nodded but kept my head down. This was going to be so much harder to explain to my daughter. I took a deep breath.

"She's my daughter." That raised Jamie's eyebrows Ashton looked up from his still twitching hands his face impassive. I could understand why Jessie liked these boys; she didn't like to be questioned.

"So she's Jessie's sister?" Ashton asked tentatively. I sighed,

"She's Jessie's twin sister." huh that rose some more eyebrows.

"Jessie doesn't have a sister." Jamie said calmly as if trying to pull me back to reality. I sighed again and addressed nobody. It was correct protocol I was the highest rank as Alpha and hence didn't have to explain myself to anyone if I didn't want to. If I did choose to address them I should talk to Jamie, first, he had asked the question and he was of higher rank than Ashton and always would be Ashton wasn't a natural.

"My wife went Rogue fifteen years ago. Our girls were nearly five. She left one night and didn't return I know now that she was out tearing people apart, she killed three I still don't even know why. She came home and I sent the girls up to their room while I went to find her. Bethany stayed put." I sighed "Jessica didn't she went to play in the Gardens with Derek. Their mother snatched Bethany and ran. Seems she didn't want to hang around to find Jessica. Probably was a good idea Derek suspected more than the girls did I mean he was nine and not stupid. And even at that age we believed,"

"That they were mates." Jamie explained to Ashton who nodded but still seemed baffled.

"As you know Jamie a member of the pack goes rogue to us they die. That day I lost my wife and My Daughter. But I still had one."

"But Bethany didn't die and from the sound of it she's pissed." Jamie snapped.

"Yep."
