When The Dead Come Knocking

Me and Rick just stood there staring at the women. I heard the fence open and Carl was by the gate that led to the outside world. The women grunted and put her hand on her leg, it was a gunshot wound. Of course, that was when the walkers discovered that she really wasn't dead.

She backed away from the fence and pulled out her sword. It wasn't until she pulled out the katana on her back that I knew. Maybe it was stupid, maybe it was me being crazy. But everybody pulls a sword out differently and that was exactly how I was taught. Call me crazy, but I wasn't just gonna not know for the rest of my life.

I grabbed my knife out and ran into the visitors area gate.

"Should we help her?" Carl asked.

"Carl, give me the keys, now!" I yelled at him. He looked at me and I looked over to see that the women had dropped her bag.

"Should we save her?" Carl asked again. Soon, I was gonna be forcing those keys out of his hand.

"Open the door, Carl." I told him one last time and I made the mistake of looking over. She was struggling and then she finally fell to the ground. Carl shot the walkers around her and then finally opened the door. Rick was coming up behind us when I ran out the front gate.

I ran and killed all the walkers I could but then more came. Carl and Rick were covering the women. I killed two more walkers on the way to her bag, then I saw the basket of baby food a few feet further. I glanced over, Rick was carrying the women and Carl was right next to him.

I killed three more walkers and then grabbed the basket of baby food. All it did was drag me further from the gate.

"Jessie!" Rick screamed and they were already by the gate. I would either have to make it a clear shot towards the gate or drop something. I can dodge them.

I sprinted towards the gate and jumped out of the way of three different hands as they tried to get me. I sprinted behind the gate and threw all the stuff down. The walkers were nearing the gate. I threw it closed and grabbed the keys to lock it.

The others were dealing with the women when I walked back up to the prison. Instead of going to help them with her I sprinted into my cell and threw my bag down from the top bunk. I made sure that it was everything and then tore everything out of it.

Everything I possessed was laying around me on the ground and I looked at all the pictures. The only black women that I would have pictures with. There were a lot of pictures and I had to sift through just to find all of them. It couldn't be her? But was it? I sat on the ground for half an hour before telling myself there was only one way to know.

I stood up and paced myself down the stairs. Daryl came over to me and put a hand on my shoulder.

"Jess, can you come here a minute?" He asked and I kept walking.

"No, in a minute I have to do something." I walked out of the cell block and out to the tables. The women was laying on the ground. I saw Rick standing in a corner watching her.

"Where's the katana?" I asked while he walked towards the cell again.

"The one from the stranger?" He asked and I nodded my head. Rick handed me the katana and I walked away from him.

"Hey! Where are you going with that?" I ignored him and sat at the table. The katana laid across my legs and I leaned towards the women until we were face to face.

"Is it really you?" She asked after studying my face for a second.

"Michonne?" I asked and she nodded her head.

"Jessamine?" She asked and I nodded my head. I fell from the table onto my knees and she wrapped her arms around me. Michonne was shaking in my arms and I let her for a second. Until I leaned back and looked at her.
