Rick demanded that I stay put and keep an eye on the other prisoners. He told me he would get the other one and bring him right back. I had a job and it was to make sure nobody else got out.

Daryl, Tyreese, and I stayed with Sasha and Rick finally walked into the building. Except it was just Rick. The other cops were in chairs in front of us. I walked to Rick with Daryl.

"He wouldn't stop." Rick said and it made sense. If Lamson was on the run and he got big headed he probably thought he could get all the way.

"This change things?" Daryl asked.

"It has to." Rick said.

"Maybe not." Daryl said. It would be 50/50 up in the air.

"She said the plan won't work. The guy who did is dead. Maybe we gotta rethink this." Rick said and I shook my head.

"We only need two people. We have two people, that's all we need. It's still a fair trade and now it's even." I told Rick.

"They also said the cop in charge didn't have any love for him. Maybe you did her a favor." Daryl said it was true. When somebody's coming for your job and everybody wants them to have it, taking em out seems like a reasonable thing.

"I don't know if they'll play ball." Rick said.

"They have to. It's the only choice they have." I said.

"Let's find out." Daryl said .

"Worst case scenario they come back with us. Become one of us. Maybe they could be useful. We've dealt with assholes who don't want to cooperate. After we go in there guns a blazing, cause I don't know if this exchange is gonna work." I told the boys and they pondered the thought for a moment before we walked to the hostages.

"He was a good man. He was attacked by rotters. Saw it go down." The woman said and I smiled at her.

"Huh. You're a damn good liar." Rick told her.

"We're hanging on by a thread here. He was attacked by rotters. That's the story." Shepherd said in hopes that we could speed up this process.

"You said the trade was a bad idea. What changed?" Daryl asked.

"Lamson was our shot. So it's this or you go in guns blazing, right? You don't want that."  Shepherd said and Daryl stepped towards her.

"If this is some bullshit you're spinning and things go south--" Daryl started.

"I know. I know the good ones from the bad. Let us help you." Shepherd said and it seemed like she just wanted to live.

"What about you? You wanna live? How much?" Rick asked the other man and I wasn't even sure what his name was or is.

"Dawn's afraid she'll look weak in front of us. Thinks it'll tip things against her. Hell, it will. She'll see this trade as a rip-off if she thinks you took out one of our guys. So it's a good thing Lamson got aced by rotters." The man said and we all nodded our heads.

"Damn shame." I said in agreement to the story.

We walked the cops onto the roof where Tyreese and Sasha were watching the ground by the edge.

Daryl traded places with Tyreese and he stood with Sasha. Time passed, the police were on the ground, and Daryl finally snapped his fingers at us.

"They're headed towards the vantage point." Tyreese said over the walkies.

"Okay. Copy that."Rick responded.

The door was opened by one of the officers that Rick had talked to. Rick had Shepherd and Daryl had Licari. Because I just learned his name. I walked in the middle of them and the rest of us were walking behind.
