What Happened And What's Going On

"I told you! I told you what would happen! I don't care if Abraham already beat the shit out of you! I warned you and doubted you the whole time!" I screamed at Eugene and clenched my fists. He started to cower backwards and we were a ways away from each other.

I slowly started to walk towards him and then started jogging towards him. He knew what would happen. I was only a few feet away and I went to raise my hand but then something started pulling me down.

There were arms wrapped around me and the dark dirt on the limbs told me it was Daryl. I tried to fight against him but he fell down to the ground pulling me down with him. Daryl rolled onto his back and he pulled me with him. He wrapped his arms tighter and pulled me against his chest.

The rage, the sadness, the fear it was all still there. But I stopped fighting against him. I stopped and laid there. I started to sob and I could hear him sniffling underneath me.

We had already buried Beth. Gabriel had done a whole ceremony about it. I had been too afraid to talk to Maggie but it wasn't going to get any easier.

I walked towards her and she had tear streaked cheeks.

"I'm sorry." I told her and my voice broke.

"Thank you." Maggie said and she thought I was saying it for something else.

"No, Maggie. I'm sorry for not bringing her back to you. I told you I would, and then it just happened so fast." I told her and I started sobbing. Maggie pulled me into her arms and I was confused as to why.

"There's no way you could have known." She told me and now she was crying.

"That's a horrible excuse." I said and I tried to stop the tears but they just kept coming.

"It's not an excuse. You said that's what Daryl went after and I figured she was dead. You told me to bring her back to you and I didn't. Maggie, I failed you, and I'm sorry." I told her and she leaned back so we were face to face.

"You didn't fail me. You could never fail me. It's going to seem unfair now, but one day we'll look back at it--it'll all be different. But in no way am I going to let you blame yourself." Maggie told me and I shook my head.

"Your supposed to be hating me right about now." I told her and she put her forehead against mine.

"I don't hate you, I don't think I ever could, Jessamine Dixon. And I'm surely not even mad at you. You were there, you saw her, it went down the way it wasn't supposed to. Beth stabbed the woman who had a gun in her hand." Maggie said and pulled me back into the hug.

"It was secure. It has a wall, homes, 20 people. Beth wanted to go with him. She wanted him to get there. It's a long trip, but if it works out, it's the last long trip we have to make." Rick told us and I continued to look at the ground.

"And what if it isn't around anymore?" Glenn asked.

"Then I get to kill Eugene." I said and looked up at him.

"No! Then we keep going." Rick told us.

"Then we find a new place." Michonne said.

"How far out?" Rick asked and I took my head off the window.

"Five miles." Noah told us and Rick grabbed the walkie-talkie.

"Hey, Carol." Rick said and we waited for a response.

"I'm here." She responded.

"We're halfway there. Just wanted to check the range." Rick said and took his finger off the button.
