Not Tomorrow Yet

I felt something on my shoulder and I looked at Daryl while he nudged my arm.

"We're here." He whispered and I picked my head up. My eyes were blurry and I rubbed it away.

I looked through the blinds and we were back in Alexandria. I sighed and laid down. I put my head on Abraham's calf and he surprisingly didn't mess with me.

The RV stopped and I could hear the people coming near. I handed the photos of Hilltop to Abraham but he pushed them back down to my chest.

"You should show them." He told me and I sighed before looking through the photos.

"Get Olivia. She should inventory what we have. We'll meet her at the pantry." Rick told them and Michonne got out of the RV.

A few of them were still talking with Rick through the window but I kept thinking of what we were about to do.

The engine started again and I put the photos back in the envelope Jesus gave to me. The RV started moving again.

"And we can work with the Hilltop. Maggie hammered out a deal. We're getting food--eggs, butter, fresh vegetables. But they're not just giving it away.
These Saviors, they almost killed Sasha, Daryl, and Abraham on the road. Now, sooner or later, they would've found us, just like those Wolves did, just like Jesus did.
They woulda killed someone or some of us. And then they would try to own us. And we would try to stop them. But by then, in that kind of fight, low on food, we could lose.
This is the only way to be sure, as sure as we can get, that we win. And we have to win.
We do this for the Hilltop, it's how we keep this place. It's how we feed this place. This needs to be a ground decision.
If anybody objects, here's your chance to say your piece." Rick said.

I sat in the middle row with Michonne and Tobin. Rosita was right behind me and I looked around the room.

Somebody was standing up and I did a 180 towards them. Morgan was standing up in the back on the other side.

"You're sure we can do it? We can beat them?" Morgan asked and I looked forward again.

I wasn't even sure, part of me was and part of me wasn't. Jesus said that somebody died from his side during the process.

This Negan guy wanted to show he had the bigger balls so he killed a teenager. It scared me that it could be the case with us, that it could be Carl, or Anthony, or Enid.

Except it could be anybody in my family. Doing this was putting that in danger and none of me liked that.

The other thing was the fact that they'd find us anyways. The Saviors were close enough with Daryl, Abraham, and Sasha. Our walls aren't exactly small.

We get the jump on them before they get the jump on us. It seemed like the only thing that could be done.

"What this group has done, what we've learned, what we've become, all of us--yes, I'm sure." Rick told him.

"Then all we have to do is just tell them that." Morgan said and I looked back at him.

"Well, they don't compromise." Rick started.

"This isn't a compromise. It's a choice you give them. It's a way out, for them and for us." Morgan said and I looked back at Rick.

"It's too risky." I told him and Rick nodded in agreement.

"We try and talk to the Saviors, we give up our advantage, our safety. No, we have to come for them before they come for us.
We can't leave them alive." Rick told him and he was right.
