Twice As Far

I looked out the window and tapped the notebook on my wrist.

"They're all Negan?" I asked myself and kept my gaze out the window.

"But we didn't kill they Negan?" I asked myself.

"How'd we miss him?" I asked.

The sun was rising again and I laid on my back.

"He has to have more hide outs." I stated.

"He's still out there, that means he has more people out there." I stated and tilted my head up to look out the window.

I hit my head against the bed and looked at the ceiling. The sun was already up and I kicked my legs in the air.

"I just gotta tell the others. Hope they don't think I'm crazy." I told myself.

"Maybe some of them have been thinking the same thing." I told myself and sighed.

"Says the one that's been talking to herself every morning about this." I called myself out.

I put on the winged jacket with sleeves on over the t-shirt. I tied my boots with a small amount of pain in my arm and put my belt around my jeans.

"After I got out of DC, I just drove. I remember seeing it right when I realized I had no idea where I was going. Edison's Apothecary and Boutique. It's just this little gift shop in a strip mall, but if it's really an apothecary, they had drugs." Denise told me and Daryl while Rosita stood by her side.

"How do you know they still got em?" Daryl asked.

"She doesn't, we don't know anything anymore. But that would be worth it." I said.

"It isn't that far. I just wanna check. And you and Rosita aren't out scavenging or pulling shifts. Jess, this is part of your job." Denise told us.

"We'll go." Daryl told her.

"I wanted to check. I just wanted to help." Denise said and I took a deep sigh.

"How much time you spend out there?" Daryl asked.

"None." Denise told us and I shook my head.

"I have certain orders from Tara to keep you safe." I told her.

"Forget it." Daryl told her.

"I can ID the meds. I know how to use a machete now. I've seen roamers up close. I'm ready." Denise told us and we both looked at Rosita.

"You good with this?" Daryl asked her.

"No." Rosita said.

"I'll go alone, if I have to." Denise said.

"That's an even worse idea." I told her.

"You'll die alone." Daryl stated.

"I'm asking you to make sure I don't." Denise said. I looked from her, to Daryl, to Rosita.

"I'm not babysitting her by myself." Rosita stated and Denise looked at the two of us.

I sat in the bed of the truck while the other three were in the cab. The gears were grinding and it felt like this thing was going to break down any second.

The gears kept grinding and it almost came to the point where I nearly covered my ears. I looked through the window and it looked like Daryl was getting pissed off with Denise.
