Chapter Thirty Nine

"You okay?" Ric looked at me. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just not hungry." He stroked my hand, "You sure?" I smiled, "I'm just fine, honey." He smiled back, "Good." I was okay, I was just running through my to do list. I had to get my dress, wrap his birthday present, and do my hair and makeup. Tonight had to be perfect.

"Violet?" "Yes?" He was standing by the window so I walked over to him. "I love you." He gently kissed my cheek, making me giggle. "I love you too Ric. I have to get home to get ready." "May I have an idea of what to wear?" I smiled, "Black tie attire. That's all I'm telling you." His eyes widened, "What are you planning, Vi?" I giggled, "It's a secret." I kissed him goodbye before catching up with my friends.

"There you are." Sarah laughed when I walked up to the car. "Sorry about that." We got into the car. "Talking to Mr. Saltzman?" I blushed, time to tell them. "Yeah. I, uh, actually have something I need to tell you guys." "Go ahead Violet." Elijah was driving. "I'm pregnant." Sarah let out a noise, I couldn't distinguish what it was. "With Alaric's baby!?" I gulped nervously, "Yeah..." She lit up like a Christmas tree. "Violet, that's amazing!"

The rest of the car ride she asked me a bunch of questions and I answered them as honestly as possible and told her about my plans for Ric's birthday. "Awe sis.. he's going to love it." I smiled, feeling better about it.

I had them stop by the dry cleaner so I could pick up my dress. This was actually happening. Tonight was actually going to be perfect, I felt it.

I said bye to my friends once they dropped me off at my house. "Have fun tonight!" Both Sarah and Elijah called before I walked into the house. Mom was already home. She asked to take the afternoon off of work so she could help me get ready for my big date.

We did my hair and makeup first. For my hair, mom slightly curled before braiding it into a bun and put a beautiful crystal hair comb in it. As for my makeup, we did a stunning dark purple smokey eye to make my green eyes really pop and used a sheer lip gloss.

Finally it was time to get dressed. The dress was black and a high low style. It had an illusion neck and back with embroidered flowers down the front. It was so comfortable and I paired it with my black three inch ankle strap heels that were pregnancy approved.

"Oh Violet, you look absolutely gorgeous." Mom was getting emotional, bless her heart. "Awe mom. Don't cry." "Aldo! Get in here!" My dad got home when we were still getting ready. "Yes Frannie?" He stood in the doorway. "Look at your daughter." His jaw dropped, "Holy moly. You look amazing Violet." I blushed, "Thank you. And thank you for giving Ric a chance." Dad smiled, "You deserve to be happy kiddo. Don't let your old man stop you." I hugged him then texted Ric.

Me: I hope you have a nice suit 😉

Ric: Oh just you wait, Vi. I'm on my way over

Me: I'll be waiting

I grabbed the gift bag with Ric's present inside and my purse. Ric arrived 10 minutes later. I waited upstairs to make my grand entrance. He knocked on the door. "Why, don't you look dashing Ric?" Mom smiled. "Thank you. Is Violet ready?" She nodded, "Violet, he's here." I took a deep breath, walked out of my room and stood at the top of the stairs. Ric's jaw dropped when I walked down the stairs. "Holy crap."
