Mitch's Kanto Journey

The First Catch

            Boink, the Poke Ball hits the Poliwag on the head and is sucked into it by the energy beam as the ball begins to shake. " Yes, We got it," Mitch excitedly yells, but he is unaware that the ball is still shaking.  Poliwag bursts out of the pokeball and yells " Poli, Poli, Poliwag," in an annoyed tone. " What just happened, why didn't the Poke Ball catch it?" Mitch asks while looking at Charmander, "Char, Char," Charmander replies while shrugging.  Mitch grabs his Pokedex and looks something up on it " Most Pokemon need to be weakened in a battle before they can be caught," says the Pokedex. 

           " Ok, Charmander use....," Mitch looks up to see that Poliwag is gone. " Seriously" Mitch says as a shadow flys over him and Charmander catching their attention. The shadow belongs to a Butterfree. " Butterfree, the Butterfly Pokemon, the evolved form of Metapod and the final evolved form of Caterpie, Butterfree's wings are covered in scales that carry poison. When attacked, it flutters its wings madly to scatter these scales. Its large, compound eyes are formed of many tiny eyes," says the Pokedex. " Charmander, use Scratch on that Butterfree," Mitch yells  " Chaaar, mander," it yells as it jumps at Butterfree with its left claw glowing white. Butterfree notices Charmander coming at it and counters with Whirlwind, sending Charmander back to the ground. " Charmander, are you.....," Mitch tries to  say before he and Charmander are put to sleep by Butterfree's Sleep Powder. 

          An uncertain amount of time later, Mitch and Charmander wake up. " You know Charmander, I kinda suck at being a trainer so far," he chuckles. " Charmander, Charmander," Charmander yells while pointing at something. Mitch follows Charmander's claw and sees that it is pointing at a small group of female Nidoran that are grazing in a nearby field. " Nidoran female, the Poison Pin Pokemon, though Nidoran female is small, it's quite dangerous. The barbs in its fur and the horn its head are both extremely dangerous." " Charmander, attack with,"  the Nidoran run away due to being spooked by Mitch's yelling. " After them, Charmander," Mitch yells as Charmander chases the Nidoran into the undergrowth. A few seconds later, " Char, Char, Char, Charmander, " it yells in a panic as it runs out of the undergrowth with three angry looking Nidorina chasing after it. " Nido, Nido, Nidorina, Nido, Nido," they aggressively yell in unison. " Run, Run, Run, " Mitch yells as he begins to run alongside Charmander with the Nidorina in hot pursuit.

         Mitch and Charmander are forced to climb up a tree in order to escape the angry poison types. The Nidorina stay at the bottom of the tree for a few minutes and aggressively growl at them before walking back into the undergrowth.  They both breathe sighs of relief and realize that they are not alone in this tree. A Venomoth was sleeping in this tree and was awakened by all the commotion. " Venomoth, the Poison Moth Pokemon, the evolved form of Venonat, when they become active after dark, Venomoth are often drawn to street-lamps. It isn't the light that attracts them, but the promise of food."  " Charmander, use Ember,"  Mitch yells. " Charmandeeeer, " Charmander yells as it spits out a bunch of tiny fireballs at Venomoth. The Venomoth is hit, but flies away before anything else can be done to it. 

         " Oh, come on," Mitch angrily yells and slams his hand down on the branch that he and Charmander are sitting on. A loud crack is heard as the branch begins to break " Son of a Beedrilllllllllll," Mitch yells as the branch gives way and he and Charmander plummet to the ground.  They land and bounce off of a large, purple object. " You ok, Charmander," Mitch asks while both of them rub their heads. Before Charmander has time to respond, the object they landed on starts to move and stands up revealing that it is a Nidoking.  The angry Nidoking lets out a terrifying roar " Nidokiiiiiiiinnnnnnggggggggg."  Charmander and Mitch look at each other and look back at Nidoking before they sprint off with the Nidoking stomping after them. Anything in Nidoking's path is destroyed as it chases after the ones that disturbed its sleep causing groups of Growlithe, Sandslash, and Male Nidoran to run away in fear. A Pidgey is watching from a nearby tree and flies at Nidoking and slams into its side with a powerful Tackle sending Nidoking flying until a nearby tree.

        Nidoking is knocked out by the impact and Pidgey falls to the ground, tired from using so much of its strength for one attack. Mitch and Charmander run up to the Pidgey and Mitch gives it a pat on the head. " Pidgey, the Tiny Bird Pokemon, thanks to Pidgey's excellent sense of direction, it can always find its way home, no matter how far it has traveled." " Thank you, Pidgey," Mitch says before turning to Charmander, " Charmander, lets get moving we'll try to catch a new teammate later, but right now I really want a change of scenery," he says. " Char, Char, Charmander," it replies while nodding in agreement. Mitch and Charmander begin to walk away, but Pidgey flies in front of them, " Pid, Pid, Pidgey, Pidge," it says in a begging tone.  " Ok you want to come with us," Mitch asks. Pidgey quickly nods in agreement and Mitch throws a Poke Ball at it. It is sucked inside and the capture noise goes off. Mitch picks up the Poke Ball and looks at Charmander. Charmander smiles and nods as he and Mitch walk forward to continue their journey.
