The Cerulean City Gym Battle

               A view of the Cerulean City Pokemon Center is shown as it zooms into a window. The window is in a part of the Pokemon Center that has a bunch of bedrooms for traveling trainers. In one of this rooms, Mitch lays fast asleep in a cozy looking bed. Charmander lays at his left side, with its tail propped up on a night stand to prevent a fire, and Mankey sleeps as his right side. Bulbasaur lays in front of Mitch's feet at the foot of the bed and Pidgey and Weedle lay on the wooden headboard. The alarm goes off and they all jolt awake " You guys ready for another gym battle," Mitch exclaims. " Char," , " Pid," , " Mank," " Weedle," , " Bulba," they all shout in excitement.

          Mitch and Charmander stand in front of a light blue rectangular shaped. Different Water Pokemon are painted on the corners of the building. Seaking at the top left, Seadra at the top right, Golduck at the bottom left, and Dewgong at the bottom right. In the center of all the paintings is text that reads out " Cerulean City Gym" in all capital letters. " Let's go," Mitch says as they walk into the gym. Like with the Pewter City Gym, they walk down a small dark hallway before reaching a lit up area. This battlefield is covered in water with a bunch of platforms in the water that are clearly there so that Pokemon that don't fly, swim, or float can battle in the gym. On the opposite side of the water battlefield sits a young orange haired girl with her feet in the water. She notices Mitch and yells out " Hello, I'm Misty, the Cerulean City Gym Leader. Are you here for a battle," she asks as she stands up. " Yeah, I'm Mitch and this will be my second gym battle," " ok, since it's just your second gym battle, we will both use two Pokemon and you will be the only one that can substitute," she explains as she pulls two Poke Balls out of a bag and steps on a large platform overlooking the water. " Ok, that's fine with me," Mitch replies as he walks on to the platform on his side of the battlefield. " Charmander, this is clearly a Water type gym, so you can sit this one out," he says as Charmander walks over to the wall and sits down to watch the battle. " As the challenger, you have the first move," Misty hollers at Mitch.

           " Mankey, I choose you," he yells as he throws Mankey's ball at one of the water platforms. " Mank, Mank, Mankey," it shouts as it jumps up and down and punches the air. " Go, Staryu," Misty yells as Mitch pulls out his Pokedex to scan the gym leader's Pokemon. " Staryu, the Star Shape Pokemon, a cluster of red lights glowing on the beach at night is probably a Staryu colony. Its red core glows at night, and as long as the core is whole, this Pokemon can regenerate from almost any injury."  " Ok, Mankey use Low Kick," " Mankeeeeey," it yells as it jumps at Staryu with its right leg glowing white. " Rapid Spin," Misty orders as Staryu begins to spin around fast. Mankey's leg is knocked back by the spinning Water Pokemon as it slams it Mankey while it spins knocking the Fighting type into the water.  " Mankey, get to a platform," Mitch orders as Mankey begins to swim as fast as possible towards the nearest platform. " Don't let it out of the water, use Tackle," Misty orders as Staryu throws its body at Mankey. Seeing that Mankey is getting close to a platform, Mitch yells out " Mankey, turn around and use Low Kick." Mankey quickly turns around and " Maaaaaaannnnnnkeeeeey," slams its glowing right leg into Staryu knocking it back several feet. Mankey pulls itself up and on to a platform as Staryu shakes off the surprise attack.

               " Good job, that was some good quick thinking for someone that is only on their second gym.  Use Water Gun," Misty says as Staryu shoots a small stream of water from its top arm at Mankey. " Mannnnkeey," it screams out as the water pushes it back. It barely manages to stay on the platform as the water stream ends. " Mankey, use Scratch," Mitch says as Mankey jumps and slashes Staryu across the face with its glowing right paw. " Water Gun,"   a still airborne Mankey is hit , but manages to land on a platform and as it struggles to get to its feet, " Use Rapid Spin." A spinning Staryu flies towards Mankey, but before it can make contact, " Use Leer," Mitch orders as Mankey's eyes glow orange and a small amount of orange eye- shaped energy is fired from Mankey's eyes. Staryu is hit by the attack and is forced to stop Rapid Spin as the orange energy moves through its body, lowering its defense. " Now, Low Kick," Mitch screams as Mankey jumps and once again slams its glowing right leg into Staryu. Staryu is sent flying and lands very hard on a platform as its core begins flashing red. Eventually, the flashing stops and the core color changes from red to grey to signify that Staryu has been knocked out.

             " Excellent work, using a move to stop Staryu long enough to land a good hit on it," Misty compliments as she returns Staryu. " Thanks, I usually don't use moves that don't do damage, but since it was so helpful in this situation, I might start using them more," Mitch replies. " Sounds like a plan, but this battle is not over yet. Starmie, I choose you," Mitch quickly grabs his Pokedex and scans the battlefield's new arrival. " Starmie, the Mysterious Pokemon, the Evolved form of Staryu, Getting close to a Starmie could give you a headache, possibly because of mysterious signals transmitted by its glowing core." " Ok, Use Scratch," Mitch yells as Mankey lunges at the new arrival, " Rapid Spin," Misty commands and like before, Mankey is sent flying back, but before it lands " Starmie, Use Hydro Pump," Misty yells as Starmie shoots a large stream of water at Mankey. Mankey is hit and pushed back so far that it is knocked out of the battlefield and crashes into the wall. Spirals appear in its eyes as Mitch recalls " You did great out their Mankey. Ok, what's good against Water types. Electric types, Oh wait, Grass types. Bulbasaur, I choose you!" 

          " Bulbaaaaadsaauur," it shouts as it lands on a platform. " Oh, excellent choice, Starmie use Hydro Pump," Misty yells. Mitch quickly thinks and yells " Bulbasaur use Vine Whip to tie up its top arm." Bulbasaur's vines shootout and tie around Starmie's arm stopping Hydro Pump. " Smart, but I can counter that, use Rapid Spin," Starmie begins to spin around and Bulbasaur is sucked into the attack and begins to take damage as it spins around. " Bulba, Bulba, Bulbasaur," it screams out as Misty yells  " Use Hydro Pump," Starmie stops spinning and , its arm freed from Bulbasaur's vines, sprays a large stream of water out of its arm. Sending Bulbasaur flying back to the platform it was originally on. " Finish it with Tackle," she yells as Starmie jumps at Bulbasaur. " Bulbasaur, use Razor Leaf,"  " Bulbaaaasaaaar," it screams as it summons a bunch of sharp leaves and fires them at Starmie. Starmie is hit and knocked back by the Super Effective move. Before it has time to recover, " Use Vine Whip," Bulbasaur's vines shootout and begin slapping Starmie across the face. Eventually, it falls to its knees as its core begins flashing red. " Bulbasaur, that's enough," Mitch says as Bulbasaur pulls its vine back. Starmie falls over on its side and its core turns grey. 

         Misty returns Starmie to its Poke Ball as she grabs something from a bag and walks over to Mitch. " Nice job, I thought I had you there for a second. Here's the Cascade Badge," she says as she hands him the blue badge. " Thanks, could you please tell me where I should go next?" Well, the closet gym that I would recommend is the one in Vermillion City," she says. " Ok, so I guess our next stop is Vermillion City."  Mitch calls Charmander over to him and let's Mankey out of its Poke ball. " We did it , we won the Cascade Badge," Mitch yells as he, Mankey, Bulbasaur, and Charmander jump in excitement as Mitch holds his new badge high in the air.
