Mitch was eyeing Mark the entire time. The kid did genuinely look scared, but the last time they'd randomly met someone, he turned out to be a crazy maniac hell bent on taking Scott and Kirsties children.

"Alright." Mitch said. "We bumped into you for a reason, so who are you?"

"I told you." Mark started. "My name is-."

"No, I don't care what your name is, Squint. What I want to know is why we crossed paths?"

Mark sighed. "I...I'm kind of like a magnet. If something has metal components, I can manipulate it."

"Huh." Mitch said, sitting back and crossing his legs, looking Mark up and down.

Scott gave Mitch a look. "Be nice."

Mitch scoffed. "No, fuck you. We don't even know who he is and now were taking him home?! I'm sorry, if something isn't settling right with me."

Mark looked at the ground. "I'm sorry you feel that way, but in my defense, I did try to leave, until Blondie over their stopped me."

Mitch glared at the mother of his child.

Scott raised his hands. "I was just trying to be helpful."

"You don't even-." He was cut off by Leigh clamping a hand over his mouth. His eyes shot a deadly look at her.

"Shut your mouth. I gave you a chance when I was convinced I shouldn't of. Be nice and stop being so antagonistic."

Mitch rolled his eyes and crossed his arm. "Fine." He said, voice muffled by Leigh's hand.

Leigh removed her hand with a smile and turned to Mark. "I'm sorry about him. He doesn't do well with people."

"No, I don't do well with- oof!" He began muttering, but Kirstie smacked him in the stomach.

"Shut up already, jesus." She snapped.

Mitch frowned and glared out the window.

Leigh led Mark into the house.

"You look kinda rough, so if you need, you can take a shower. Be careful with the hot water though, the knob likes to shock you." She looked at Scott, who'd destroyed her bathroom with a bolt of lightening. Ever since then, you had to be cautious and prepared to be shocked.

"I said I was sorry." Scott said, looking at the ground.

Leigh smiled. "Love you, Scotty."

"Mhmm." He whined.

Mitch came over and made it a point to kiss him and snuggle into him. "You're okay, Baby." He said.

Scott wrapped his arms around Mitch and kissed his head.

Leigh looked at Mark, who was watching this interaction.

"Magnetic, huh?" She said, leading him upstairs.

Mark nodded. "Yeah." He said nervously.

"So, why...why were you running earlier?"

Mark sighed. "My ex." He said. "My ex...he's not the nicest. Um, I finally had an out and I took it. I was done with his games. He's dangerous."

"What's his name?"

"Um, Todrick?"

Leigh looked at him. "Did he ever go by anything else?"

"Yeah. T."

Leigh's eyes went wide. "Explain how you found us. Now."

Something in Leigh's eyes scared him. "I promise you, I was just trying to get away. I don't even know who you people are. All I do know, is that All Black out there dislikes me already."

"He doesn't like anyone. Don't take it too personally."

Mark just nodded. "Can I take that shower now?"

Leigh nodded. "There's a towel on the back of the door."

Mark smiled. "Thank you." He said as he shut and locked the door.

Leigh sighed and made her way back downstairs.

"Alright, Kit. Vibe check." She started.

Kirstie looked at her. "Um, he was more scared than anything, a little apprehensive."

"Does he seem evil?" She asked, the sentence sounding as ridiculous aloud as it had in her head.

Mitch chuckled. "Since when can she tell someone is evil? I mean, she sure didn't sense Matt, and she definitely didn't sense me a while back."

Kirstie looked at him. "Really? We're gonna do this now?"

"Only if you want to, sweetheart."

Kirstie bit her tongue as she saw the look Leigh was giving her, and stayed silent.

"I don't trust him." Mitch said, biting his fingernails, that were basically bloody stumps at this point.

Avi huffed. "You don't trust anyone."

"Very true."

Leigh sighed. "Well, hes getting the chance to earn out trust. Just like I did with you, Mitch."

Mitch stood up. "See, the difference between me and him? I had more than one person vouching for me. He had no one. Who the fuck did he even find us? I mean, the one time we actually go out in public, and Avi gets knocked to the ground by some chink eyed asshole, that just so happens to be on the run? Uh-uh. Somethings not adding up."

"Or your just overthinking this whole thing." Scott said. "I mean, you do that a lot, so."

"I really didn't ask." Mitch said, wiping the hair out of his eyes. "I just don't trust him, and based on past experiences, I'm trusting that feeling, more than I trust him." Without another word, he walked off.

"What's his problem?" Avi asked, scratching his chin. His beard had finally grown back enough to provide him some coverage. It wasn't as long as it was, but it was getting there.

Scott shook his head. "I have no idea. He's been all over the place since this morning."

"Ah." Avi nodded. "So, what do we do?"

Leigh sighed as she sat down next to Kevin, who grabbed her hand and kissed it. "We get to know him. Mitch is probably gonna be a bit standoffish, so, just work with him. Scott, you'll have the most luck with that."

Scott snorted. "I'll try. He doesn't back down."

"He will if you put him in his place."

Scott nodded. "I got you." He smiled.

Leigh just shook her head with an eyeroll.

"Alright, I'm gonna make some lunch, let me know when Mark comes back down."

Everyone nodded and her and Kevin disappeared into the kitchen.
