Two days later and things were relatively back to normal.
Mitch and Scott were off in the corner talking. Mitch kept putting a hand to Scott's stomach, as if he couldn't quite believe it yet. Scott was just watching him, and there was something in his eyes when he looked at Mitch, that Kevin just couldn't figure out.
Kirstie and Avi went to get breakfast, so they should be back soon.
Kevin was on his phone, trying to find a car.
"Just get a truck." Mitch said.
"Huh?" Kevin replied.
"A truck. I mean, like one of those crew cab ones. It would fit all of us comfortably, and we could throw our stuff in the back."
"I can look, but do you know how expensive those can be?"
"Why don't we just stay here? I mean, Matt's obviously in the area. It really wasn't that long of a drive when the took me. Maybe a couple hours? Rent a car or something."
Kevin sighed and tossed his phone. "I don't know. Where do we even begin?"
"Well, didn't Zeus tell you guys that all demigods are connected? Like the "godly" part of us, or whatever?"
"Well, yeah, but...I don't know. I mean, at least now we know what he looks like." Kevin shrugged.
Mitch nodded and shifted his attention back to Scott's stomach.
"So like, she's really in there?" He asked Scott, poking his stomach lightly.
Scott chuckled. "Yep. Though she's literally just cells right now."
"Can you feel her?"
"Kinda? Its like, I have this...energy, I guess. Like, I know she's there. Its hard to explain. Can you stop poking me?" He laughed.
Mitch pulled his hand back. "I'm sorry. I just...wow." He poked Scott again.
"Mitch!"
"I'm sorry!" Mitch laughed.
Scott chuckled. "Its alright. I get it. Fun fact: she healed me."
"Healed you?"
Scott nodded. "Yep."
"That's awesome. What else can she do?"
"I have no idea. But I'm sure we'll find out." He put a hand to his stomach and rubbed it lovingly.
Suddenly, Mitch perked up. "Stay here." He said.
Scott was confused, but listened anyway.
Kevin followed Mitch as he went outside.
"Mitch, What's going on?"
Mitch looked around with wide eyes. "I sensed something."
"Come again?"
"Like, its not alive, but its not dead. Something is here, and its not friendly."
Kevin looked and saw something in the distance. "Is that..." He pointed. "...a skeleton?"
Mitch looked. He could quite make out what it looked like. "I think so?"
"So you can sense the dead?"
"I guess, but more importantly, there is a skeleton coming after us. How do you take down a skeleton?" Mitch looked at Kevin.
"I don't know!" Kevin said. "Skeletons are literally just bon-" He stopped. "Fire. Blast it. When someone is cremated, their bones burn with them."
Mitch panicked. He made a fire ball and chucked it, only to miss.
"Well that was a lot of help." Kevin rolled his eyes.
"I'm sorry. You try aiming for long distance!"
"Once he gets closer, try again."
Mitch looked. He took a deep breath and planted his feet. He looked and was about to throw another one, when he saw the skeleton raise a bow with a nocked arrow.
"You have got to be kidding me." He said. He didn't have time to move, and was hit in the bicep.
He screamed and twisted. Kevin watched as Mitch's eyes flared orange and he stuck out his good arm, and a blast of flame came from it.
When the flame disappeared, all that was left was a pile of ash.
"Stupid ass bitch!" Mitch spat. He was pissed. He turned to Kevin.
Kevin didn't say anything, but saw that Mitch's eyes were still orange.
"You okay?" Mitch asked.
Kevin nodded. "Yeah." He squeaked. "Just remind me not to get on your bad side. That was terrifying."
Mitch chuckled and his eyes returned to normal. "Good." He said. "Well, not good that you were scared, but good that it was scary."
Kevin nodded and saw, out of the corner of his eye, Avi and Kirstie. He decided to just act lime he didn't notice.
He grabbed Mitch's arm and started at it. Mitch's blood had a certain...tint to it. "Does everything about you resemble fire?"
Mitch raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
"I mean, you're eyes change to a fiery orange color, your hair now has streaks of that same color, and even your blood has an orange tint to it."
"Huh." Was all Mitch said.
"Everything okay?" Kirstie asked, when she made it to Mitch and Kevin, her eyes going wide when she sees the blood. "What. Happened?!"
"Multiple things actually. Mitch unlocked another ability, a skeleton came after us and shot Mitch with an arrow, and that skeleton is now that pile of ashes about 50 feet away."
"Wait, you unlocked another ability?" She asked Mitch.
Mitch shrugged as Kevin continued to heal him. "I guess, but I think its more of a secondary thing. Kinda like your empathy."
"Oh." Kirstie nodded. "Cool."
Mitch pulled his arm away, even though Kevin wasn't even half way finished. "No, Mitch."
"I'm fine, Kev. Thank you." He grabbed the card and went back in the room and saw scott sitting criss cross on the bed, playing on his phone.
"Kirstie and Avi brought food." Mitch said, going into the bathroom and shutting the door. He took off his jacket and shirt and examined himself.
He had bruises from when he was with Matt. Several new cuts and scrapes. He looked up and sure enough, his hair had fire colored streaks. When did that happen?
He shrugged and grabbed a paper towel and cleaned the wound on his arm the best he could. He searched and eventually found a first aid kit and grabbed the wraps out of it and began to wrap his bicep.
When he finished, he threw away his garbage and headed back out after he put on a new, long sleeved, shirt.
He plopped himself down and crawled up and rested his head in Scott's lap. "Hi."
"Hello." Scott chuckled. "You changed?"
"Just my shirt." Mitch shrugged. "Its more comfy than my other one."
"And Im assuming I am more comfortable that the bed?"
Mitch nodded and closed his eyes. He was tired, again.
He felt Scott lay back and stretch out as mitch yawned, and Mitch took that opportunity to lay his head on Scott's stomach and just listen.
He fell asleep to Scott rubbing his back.
Lets take a break from the angsty drama and have some cute, shall we?
Lol
Love y'all
