Kirstie screamed when she saw the lightning strike down.
Kevin was still inside the house, along with Matt and one of the twins, and the house was destroyed.
She ran to Avi first, but he was already trying to sit up.
"Wait, don't move." She said, looking him over.
She lifted his shirt and saw the black and purple veins around the mark on his chest.
Avi groaned as her fingers touched the wound.
"I'm sorry!" She said, jerking her hand back.
Avi held out his hand for help up, but the movement to do so sent pain throughout his body.
"Leigh..." He groaned.
Kirstie shifted her focus to the woman on the ground.
"She's unconscious. And the strike went through her shoulder." Kirstie choked out.
Then she looked at the rest of the group.
Mitch was still on the ground, but he was crying out in pain, simultaneously holding his stomach and his head.
"Go." Avi said, holding his chest. "I've got her."
Kirstie nodded, more tears falling as she ran over to Mitch.
"Mitchy?" She sobbed.
He screamed in pain again and let out what sounded like sobs.
Mitch couldn't do anything but scream. He couldn't say anything about what the rain was doing to him.
Kirstie lifted his shirt to see and saw the mark from the lightning, but it looked way worse than Leigh's or Avi's.
Kirstie put his shirt down and looked around trying to think. She could feel how scared Mitch was right now and it wasn't just for Scott and Neryssa. He was scared of what was happening to him.
Then it clicked in her head that Mitch needed to get out of the rain. That would help.
"C'mon, Mitch." She said as she did her best to sit him up and get him on his feet.
Only, he was practically dead weight. She couldn't lift him like she needed.
"Come on..." She grunted as she readjusted her grip She was determined to save his life.
It took her a bit, but she eventually got him into the back the SUV, laying him down. Him groaning as she did so. He was in so much pain.
She searched in one of the bags to find something to dry him off with, eventually finding a small cloth that wasn't gonna do much.
She needed another set of hands because she needed to get to Scott.
Wait...
"Esther!" She shouted, her voice cracking.
Avi's sister appeared the minute she heard her name and looked at Kirstie, ready for instruction.
"He needs to get into something dry. The water will drain him enough that he'll be pretty much dead. Dry him off and try anything to get him functional." She told her friend, tears running down her face. "I'm gonna get Scott."
Esther nodded and got right to it, finding random clothes and began stripping Mitch out of his soaking wet ones.
Kirstie made her way out of the car and to Scott, who was now sitting against the car.
"Scott." She said, dropping to her knees in front of him. "Where were you hit?" She asked, searching him for marks.
"The neck...I think..." He groaned out, bringing a hand up to cradle his neck.
