Scott looked at his little family with admiration. Mitch was still asleep, as well as the baby, and neither of them had moved in the last hour Scott had been observing them.
Mitch had the slightest snore when he was in a deep sleep, and Neryssa would make the occasional sound, but not wake up.
Mitch didn't have a single nightmare, which was new. Scott knew he still had them almost every night. Even when Demetri had taken over, there would still be screams coming from his room at night, or anytime he slept, really. But, right now, he was as content as the baby.
Neryssa currently had Mitch's finger in her grip, and Mitch had her snuggled in his arm.
Scott smiled and carefully reached for his phone and took several pictures. He sent one to Kirstie and set the device to the side. With gentle movements, he leaned forward and kissed his daughters forhead. Keeping the same caution, he leaned to kiss Mitch's lips, ever so slightly.
"I'll be right back." He whispered.
He forgot his arm was under the two, so when he tried to move, it nudged Mitch enough to make him stir. Scott froze until he was sure Mitch was asleep, and slowly continued to remove his arm.
Once his arm was free, he let out a soft sigh. His leg went over the edge and he climbed off the bed as gracefully as he could, and quietly left the room. He tiptoed away from the door and made his way downstairs and down to the kitchen, where Avi, Kirstie, Leigh, and Arryanna where.
"Uh, hi." He said, cupping the back of his neck. He gave a shy little wave as he came over to the stove, where Avi was making food.
Avi shot a glare in the direction of him, and put some force behind him putting down the spatula and grabbing the cheese for his eggs.
"Um, could, um- could we talk?" Scott asked, leaning against the counter.
"I have nothing to say to you." Avi replied. He didn't bother looking at Scott as he grabbed the plates and flipped the sausage patties.
"Then can I talk and you listen?" Scott offered.
Avi gave him a hard look for several seconds before speaking. "Fine." He finally said. "But after I dish out food. Where's Mitch?" He asked.
"Sleeping. Along with the baby."
Avi nodded and went back to what he was doing. He didn't feel like paying Scott anymore mind than he needed to.
Scott went over to the kitchen table and sat down next to Kirstie.
"He's still mad at me." He told her.
She looked at him. "Avi? Oh, yeah." She chuckled. "He's pissed. And you owe him at least a thanks."
"I know." His head dropped. "I know. That's why I wanna talk to him."
"Well, good. That shows initiative. I'm gonna be honest. Scott, I really want to throw you into next decade bc you have made me so mad. What's going on with you anyway?"
"I can't explain it. Just...something-...a part of me, wanted nothing to do with anyone, and another wanted to scream and cry out for help. I don't know."
Kirstie pursed her lips as she adjusted the bottle for Arryanna. "And now?"
"Mitch is back." he shrugged. "For now, I mean. Who knows the next time he won't be in control. Or, if that does happen, can we ever get him back? Neryssa needs her father and I need Mitch. I mean, what's going on with Matt? Has he just vanished?" He looked around between the three other people in the room.
