"I think Scott's in labor."
"Well, no shit." Scott growled from the ground.
Mitch was panicking, not knowing what to do. "We need to get him to our room." Was all he could think of.
Kevin and Avi were the first to move. Once they got Scott to his feet, they helped him make his way upstairs. Mitch stayed behind, watching.
"What happened?" Kirstie asked, near tears.
Mitch snorted. "My boyfriend is in labor, it would seem." He said the words like he couldn't quite believe the words leaving his mouth.
"No, I mean before. Before Scott collapsed. You don't need any of us?"
Leigh dropped her head. "Really, Mitch?"
"What, it's true." He defended. "From the start of this, everyone made it clear."
"Made what clear?" Kirstie interjected, unable to keep her mouth shut. "That we want you around? That your actually a pretty cool bitch when your not going around being a dick?"
"None of it's real! You're just playing along to make me fucking happy. Newsflash, I'm not happy!"
"Why?!?! You have a boyfriend that loves you! You have a baby who loves you and she hasn't even met you yet! You have all of us!"
"Since when?! I've almost killed Scott, I've almost killed the rest of you. I'm a hazard, so why the fuck am I still around?"
"Why can't you see what you mean to us? Scott loves you! I love you! You're my best friend, Mitch!"
Mitch couldn't come back with a defense. He opened his mouth to, but words failed him.
"We love you Mitch!" Kirstie continued. "Yes, you've done some things, but who hasn't?! These are the things we talk about and work out so that, in the end, there isn't a huge fuckin thing."
She stopped and took a moment to look at Mitch. His face showed that he was angry, but his eyes said he was hurting.
"What's going on?" She asked softly, taking a small step towards him.
He sniffled as he took a step back. "Please...don't touch me." He said calmly as he held his hands out. "Please."
Kirstie nodded, giving a soft, and very slight, smile. "Okay. That's okay. Just please...talk to me." She could feel what he was feeling, but she wanted him to say it, to begin to let it go.
Mitch remained silent for several seconds.
"I...Kit, I'm terrified." He said sadly. "I don't wanna mess up."
"Mess up...what?"
"Everything!" He yelled.
"Mitch, what-."
"I'm terrified to even breathe." He interrupted her. It was just pouring out of him. "Because, I know something's gonna happen, and all of you, Scott, and that baby, will end up leaving me and hating me because I did something that I can never take back! I don't know what it's gonna be, but it's happened before, and who are any of us to say it won't happen again?!
"My own d-d-daug-. My own daugt-t-t..." he looked at Kirstie, tears forming in his eyes.
Kirstie had never seen Mitch even tear up before.
"You're daughter, Mitch." She said softly. "Its okay to say it."
Mitch shook his head frantically, fighting to keep the tears from falling. His knees were shaking and threatening to take him to the ground, if he didn't do it himself.
