As Mitch laid on the couch, staring blankly at the ceiling, he wondered what the heck. Every time Scott yelled out, it angered Mitch, but only because he couldn't make himself go up there and help. He wanted to, but something kept him from doing it.
Leigh and Kirstie came in and sat on both sides of him.
"What the fuck?" Mitch said. "Go away."
"Nope." Kirstie shook her head. "You need to go upstairs and help. Just be there."
"After what I said today, I doubt he wants to go anywhere near me."
"Mitch." Leigh interjected. "Right now, I think he's worrying more than he should, about what you said. What's really keeping you down here?"
Mitch looked at her and sighed, picking his head up and looking at the ground.
"I don't know. Part of me wants to, but theres another part that's telling me to stay away."
"Don't you want to be there for your daughter's birth?"
Mitch could barely answer. "I just feel like she'd be better off without me in her life. Especially the beginning of it."
Kirstie and Leigh shared a look, and Kirstie grabbed his hand and pulled him to his feet.
"What are you doing?" He said as he tried to get out of their grip.
It wasn't until Kirstie gave him a look, and threatened him with a water ball, that he stopped and complied.
He started struggling again once he saw that they were taking him upstairs.
He ripped his hand out of Leigh's and turned to run down the stairs and away, but almost ran into Kirstie, stopping himself before they collided.
"Watch it!." Kirstie said, protecting her stomach. "Precious cargo?" She raised and eyebrow and gestured around her stomach, making it even more obvious.
"Yes, I can see that. Can you move?" Mitch asked, rolling his eyes.
Kirstie shook her head. "Not until you apologize."
Mitch raised an eyebrow, only for Kirstie to plant her foot and cross her arms.
Mitch huffed. "I'm sorry." He started. "That you feel the need to imprison me on the stairs. Move, so I can go."
"Go where, Mitch?" Leigh said from behind him. "Because the person that needs you is in the opposite direction of which your going."
"I need some air. Is that an issue?"
Kirstie snapped his attention back to her. "I will lecture you if I need to Mitchell Grassi. Get your ass up there and be with the man that you love, who just so happens to be in labor."
Mitch blinked.
"So, get over yourself, because right now, this isn't about you. Scott needs you up there to help him."
Mitch huffed. "Kit, c'mon." He said then pushed past Leigh and went up the stairs. She caught up with him and he looked at her. "I only need you to open the door. I'll tell you right now I can't do it myself."
"You going in the room is all I care about." She gave him a soft smile.
She grabbed his hand just as they walked up to the door.
"I'm proud of you, Mitchy." She said, then kissed his cheek and opened the door to the room before he could say anything.
Scott was currently sleeping, and Avi was in the corner of the room on his phone.
