*Third Person POV*
The frail, bruised child shivered, unsure of where to go next. Her chocolate curls stuck stubbornly to her forehead as she cautiously scanned her surroundings, unfamiliar with the new territory. The silk nightgown she'd worn was littered with traces of mud, making her rather filthy, despite the water that cascaded over her small frame. A loud rumble had erupted from her stomach, reminding her how hungry she had been. She was unable to focus on these things, however, still processing what she had just witnessed.
What was she to do now?
She continued, the soft moonlight and gentle gleam of the stars guiding her wavering steps. It was then that she noticed a pair of soldiers guarding an opening that lead into a dark tunnel, the girl intrigued by the alluring entryway.
I wonder where that goes?
Could it be warmer down there?
Maybe they'll let me go inside!
Her interest peaked as she ran over to them, hoping she would be able to escape the rain that wouldn't seem to stop falling. Of course, such weather was fitting for the evening and the events that had transpired.
"Excuse me." She yanked on the tall person's sleeve, trying to get their attention as politely as possible.
They jerked their arm away easily from her weak grasp, "how did you get up here?"
Their companion looked at her with wide eyes, "disgusting." He sneered, contorting his face with obvious revulsion.
The girl's timid voice called out, "could you please help me?"
