"I'm sorry?" Levi snapped, though he really wasn't believing that he'd registered her words correctly.

"You heard me," she continued, "and I have been for a long time. Every time I visited you in the underground, when I was living in the alley, I returned because I couldn't stand the chance of never seeing you again. Each moment that we shared together- all of the pain, sorrow, and happiness that we shared together, I wouldn't change it. Not in a million years. I can't imagine my life without you in it- even if for the past six years you've loathed my very existence. I don't care if you hate me or curse at me, as long as I know I'm still going to see you at the end of the day.

"Back then, when I asked you if you've ever been in love, I did that since I loved you. Everything I said I thought love was- I already knew, because of you. You're my escape from this hellhole we live in- you're my reason to keep going after all of the bullshit.

"I fell in love with the bratty teenager who called me weird the first time we met. With the seemingly stubborn, stoic person that's actually one of the most caring, empathetic people I've ever known, and who is equally sadistic," she chuckled, "a man who fought so I wouldn't have to, and came to my rescue when I needed help. Someone overly obsessed with cleaning and black tea, and who is absolutely fucking terrifying when you tickle him.

"The person who hates pen caps being left off, and can't get a normal sleep schedule if their life depended on it. The person that, when they can, rests in an upright position in their clothes from the day before. An individual that always cooked the best stew for me when we were able to have it. The one that would come into my room when I would have nightmares, and cut my stupidly stubborn curls just to make me feel safe.

"I know that you don't care about me now," she finished, letting her hold on him go. Her arm dropped solemnly to her side, "but I couldn't do it anymore. I know this is complicated and probably really confusing. Even so, it's the truth. I love you, a lot- so much that it hurts sometimes." She laughed somberly.
