He slammed the door in your face.
You stood there. Unable to process what just happened. The James Buchanan Barnes just broke up with you and closed the door as his way of ending it. The metal armed god....you once loved. That love is gone. As soon as the lock reached it's place, you were done.
Tears ran down your cheeks as you called Sam. Your brother basically, he helped you with anything and everything you needed help with. He never left your side, sure, you could've called Nat, Clint, Tony, or even Peter, but you were closer to Sam. Best friend since he was recruited to the Avengers initiative. You fumbled out your phone, tears clouding your vision, and went to Sam's contact. You left the Tower and strolled down the sidewalk heading twords Sams house.
"Hello?" He answered.
"Sam. Are you busy?" You asked trying not to sound broken.
"Uhm, no. Just watching the football game. Why?" He asked.
"I uh...need to bunk over for a bit. I'm going to my moms house tomorrow. I can't go tonight because she's still out the city." You replied, your voice cracking.
Your mom loved Bucky. She didn't see him as a threat, she treated him like a son, and above all, she made him feel at home. It was like she didn't even need to know much about him before she trusted him. All was well. As was okay.
"Whats going on? What happened?" He asked, his voice more concerned by each second.
"Just...please."
"Alright. Come over, we'll talk, and we'll watch the game together alright?" He cooed.
"Yeah." You answered before hanging up.
You put the phone back in your back pocket and strolled through the night city. You didn't need to be worried, Nat and Clint trained you. You knew how to protect yourself so it wasn't any concern of you to be out at night. A couple more minutes went by and you reached Sams house. The spare key under the rock at the front, you opened the door and closed it behind you. You heard him cheering in the living room. His lights were on but he dimmed them, there was BBQ and Buffalo wings on the counter in thr kitchen along with some soda.
You took off your hoodie revealing your black tank top and blue jeans. You took off your hightops and put them in a corner. Walking through the hallway, you saw Sam sitting on his couch feasting on wings. A small smile slid across your face and you sat next to him sitting criss cross. The bears and Eagles were playing. 2nd quarter with 12 minutes and 34 seconds until 3rd quarter. Sam looked over at you and saw how red your eyes were. He knew something bad happened if you were crying. You rarely cry.
You only cried 3 times in your life. Once when you lost your father, second when you got a dog for Christmas, and last when Bucky asked you out after a year of swooning.
Sam wrapped an arm around your shoulder and shook you lightly. He handed you a soda and you took it gladly.
"What's up (Nickname)?" He asked with a soft voice.
"He uhm, broke up with me." You siad with a sad chuckle.
You told him how he started acting funny this morning after a nightmare, he avoided you, you confronted him, he yelled at you for the first time, the argument started, then...he ended it. His last words to you were "You don't even love me!" as he shut the door. You drank the last of your soda and sat the can on the table not wanting to talk about it anymore. You got up and got some wings sitting back down and watching the game. His lights, dim, he supported your decision and watched the game with you.
You both yelled at the fumbles, 3rd downs, and touchdowns made by the other team. Sure, neither of you were Brown or Eagles fans but you still enjoyed the game.
