Thank-you

Your fingertips traced along a piece of paper that had been torn out of your journal: a journal you had kept hidden since the beginning of your stay in Paradis. You would regularly write in this journal: scribbling the latest occurrences in your life, as well as updates on your plan to escape the island. Although your plan was proceeding slower than you had anticipated, you were still progressing: the latest update in your journal being that Hange had shown you where exactly the weaponry closet was located, although, had not yet given you a key to access it.

You carefully wrote down the different ingredients required for vanilla-cupcakes on the form-out piece of paper. Whilst lying on your stomach on top of your bed, you playfully kicked your feet; pressing the end of your pen against your lower lip.

You had already decided that vanilla-cupcakes were a safe present option for the sweet-toothed Onyankopon.

Your bedroom door knocked; you cocked your head whilst Hange entered your bedroom. Placing your pen and note-pad against the quilt of your bed, you began to shuffle your figure to the side to allow the Commander some room to sit.

"Is everything okay?"

Hange relaxed against your bed: "I'm fine, I just wanted to check-up on you, that's all. What are you doing?"

"I'm making some vanilla cupcakes for someone." You bit the inside of your cheek upon realising that it would be a bad idea to mention his name to Hange once again, "I'll need to walk to the Market later today to get some ingredients."

"That's fine," The Commander hesitated for a moment, pushing their glasses up the ridge of their hooked nose; "As long as you have another Scout there to keep an eye on you, that is. You know the drill."

"No leaving the barracks unsupervised, I know." You subtly groaned, having hoped that by now they would trust you enough to be unattended: "Are you busy?"

They nodded.

"I'm afraid that I'm doing business with Yelena and Onyankopon."

"Oh," You immediately began to run out of options, "What about Mikasa?"

"She's spending the day with Eren, and Armin." They continued, "I'm sure that Levi is free today, but," A subtle smirk stained their mouth whilst they softly chuckled beneath their breath: "Good-luck trying to convince Levi to go shopping with you, Y/N. I wish you the best."

You impatiently pounded your fist against the hard, wooden door of your Captain's office. Levi sighed from inside the room, his fingers massaging his aching temples. Able to recognise you immediately by your knock, Levi began to organise his paperwork to the side of his desk.

You pounded on the door once more, earning an anguished groan from him.

"For God's sake," Levi's silver eyes began to flutter closed as he aggressively slammed his pen on the wood of his desk, "Why can't she leave me alone to work?"

You knocked harder.

Overcome with apoplexy, Levi snapped: "Just come in!" And, whilst you slowly began to open the door, he murmured, "What the hell do you want?"

Smirking sadistically at the agitation that stained his face, you replied: "You have to come to the Market with me."

"No."

"It wasn't a question," You muttered, "Onyankopon agreed to keep our secret, so, I'm making him cupcakes as a thank-you present. I need to buy some ingredients from the Market in the Main Town, and, you're coming with me."

"I never agreed to go to the Market with you," Levi shook his head immediately: "In fact, I've been trying to spend the least amount of time with you as physically possible."

Your laugh only brought the brooding man more irritation: "That's been working out for you, hasn't it, Captain?"

"Get the hell out of my office."

"So, are you coming to the Market with me?"

"Again, no. I'm not."

"Captain," You balanced your weight on your palms, holding onto the wood of his birch-desk to lean over him: "Please. The Commander won't let me leave the barracks unattended, I have to be supervised by another Scout."

"That's not my problem," Sitting from his desk, he rested his chin against his knuckle, "Ask someone else."

"Everyone else is busy today." You began to grow impatient, "Captain, please. Don't forget, Onyankopon is covering for you, too."

A moment passed.

Levi exhaled through his nose: "You're not going to take no for an answer, are you?"

You shook your head.

Shaking his head, Levi finally caved in to your begging and began to reluctantly arrange your trip to the Market.
