Winter Cold

The late evening soon came by.

You brushed off your clothes and tightened your winter coat around your shoulders, preparing yourself for the cold outside as the night air glared at you from the window.

You opened the door to yours and Levi's bedroom and quickly met with him outside of his office where you had planned to meet, smiling at the sight of his welcoming silhouette.

He raised his slender hand as if to acknowledge that you were there, before you quickly laced your fingers with his, hearing him sigh.

"So, where are we going?" You instantly began as his eyebrow raised.

"Hm." He shrugged you off, "You're not even going to say hello?" He carried on speaking as you led him closer to the outside, "I.. actually tried to make myself look-.. We'll, y'know."

Levi brushed off his clothes as you stopped walking, your hand slipping from his as you pressed your hands to his shoulders, eyes scanning up and down his body with a guilty feeling.

It was obvious that he'd tried to make himself look good for the date he'd planned to take you on: his ebony hair perfectly brushed out and his face clean shaven and soft.

He was wearing a usual shirt, expect his clothes were covered by a light-grey coat, and a warm hat in his free hand.

You brushed strands of hair away from his eyes as he glared at you, waiting for some sort of reaction.

You pressed your forehead against his, "You look pretty tonight.." You kissed him softly, feeling his lips smile against you as his hands slipped to your waist, "You look pretty every night."

He rolled his eyes, "Okay, now you're pushing it." He pulled you away but still held tightly onto your waist, dragging his fingers down to your hips, "You look gorgeous.." He muttered quietly, pecking your lips softly, "And dressed for the weather.. having said that, we should get going. It's meant to snow tonight."

Your eyes suddenly lit up, "Hu- Really?"

He nodded, holding back onto your hand as he began to lead you from the barracks, making your way outside to the dark night.

You placed both hands in your pockets to warm them up as the cold breeze flew right through you.

Levi clenched his jaw, his mouth hidden behind the top of his coat as he smoke left his lips. You placed his hat on his head with a faint giggle, his black hair becoming messy and sticking out at the ends.

His hand slipped inside of your pocket, holding onto your hand, his fingers tightly entwined with yours.

"So," You began to ask him as you slowly became used to the cold weather, your hand still wrapped tightly around his, "Where are we going?"

He shrugged his shoulders casually, "No where in particular.. is there anywhere you want to go?"

You flashed him a smile, "I don't mind where we go, as long as I'm with you."

Your boyfriend scoffed, his grey eyes rolling, "So corny.."

You nudged him harshly as he gave you a small grin, "Shut up, I was trying to be cute."

Levi quietly chuckled, shaking his head with a breathy smile, "You're dumb, that's what you are."

You rolled your eyes with a tired laugh, before remembering what Hange had asked of you earlier that day.
"Hey."

"What?"

You nudged him, your fingers entwining with his, "Your birthdays coming up.."

His smile began to fade at the word 'birthday' as he shrugged his shoulders, "Yeah, I suppose it is."

"Well, c'mon. Don't make me ask you again.. what do you want for your birthday?"

Levi shrugged you away from him with a sudden frown, his nose stuck up with a transparently displeased expression.

"Nothing. I don't want anything."

You rolled your eyes, entwining your hand back with his as he reluctantly allowed his fingers to cup around yours, "Tell me! I don't want to end up disappointing you.. I honestly have no idea what to get you."

"Then don't get me anything," He shook his head as you heard his voice soften, "I don't want you to buy me anything: for my birthday or for christmas." You watched as Levi leaned close, giving you a sarcastic yet charming smile as you scoffed, "Your presence is enough of a present to me already."

"That's what Hange said that you said to them, too.. you're not being helpful. We're both struggling to buy for you."

Levi scoffed, kicking his foot against the icy floor as you watched his cheeks deepen to a light shade of pink, "Well, I'm only being honest: I love the both of you. Even if both do manage to annoy the shit out of me constantly.."

You felt yourself smile.

You no longer felt cold, instead warm inside.

You stopped walking, pressing your hand against his jawline before pulling his face close to yours, your lips melting into his cheek as you held him closely by his waist.

He pulled you back, his arms wrapping loosely around your shoulders to pull you into a deep kiss, his fingers brushing against the back of your neck.

His hands felt warm against your body as they ran down your back, before you pulled back as you held hands loosely, beginning to walk through the town again.

"But, just letting you know now," You tilted your head towards him as he smiled, "Since you're not helping me, I'm not helping you, either."

"Well, I don't need your help with buying you a present." He scoffed lightly, "I already bought yours."

"Really? Now I just feel guilty.."

"What? Why?"

"Because." You sighed slowly, as his slender eyebrow raised, "You didn't even have to ask me what I wanted.."

"So? I can't help being such a good boyfriend." He deepened his voice slightly as he nudged you in the side, "It just comes naturally to me; I'm great."

"Yeah.. you really are."

You heard his soft chuckle, feeling him stop you from walking, unable to hide the faint grin on his cheeks as he looked like he was waiting for someone to say something.

"Hey." He awkwardly shrugged his shoulders as you raised an eyebrow.

"Hello?"

"C'mon. I want to take you somewhere."

"Where?"

"Just c'mon."
