The moment that you left the warmth of the shop, the cold air of the atmosphere consumed you. You immediately began to shiver, despite being stood beneath a canopy that sheltered you from the rain.

Levi turned his head towards you, rich-smoke leaving his lips as he spoke: "What took you so long?"

"I was speaking with the owner of the shop." You averted your gaze onto the powerful rain that hammered meters away from you; "She told me that we looked sweet together. Believe it, or not, she actually believed that we were a married couple."

Scoffing to himself, Levi murmured: "The thought alone of marrying you makes me feel sick to my stomach."

"That's surprising," You chuckled, amused by the disgust plastered on his face: "I was beginning to think that you were warming up to me."

"You thought wrong."

You took a moment to analyse the appearance of Levi; he looked less distressed than earlier, however, there was a tinge of anxiety lingering around him. The hand that held his cigarette was gently shaking in panic.

Unsure on what to say, you stated: "I forgot that you smoke."

Levi shrugged his broad shoulders: "I rarely do. I only smoke when I'm stressed: it relieves me."

"That's surprising." You stepped closer towards him, leaning your back against the same wall to mirror his movements.

"Why?"

A gentle smile protruded against your lips as you teased: "You have an obsession with cleaning; I just wouldn't expect someone who values cleanliness to smoke cigarettes, that's all."

Levi scoffed, the edge of his lips curling upwards slightly: "You think you have me all figured out, don't you?"

"Don't I?"

Levi scoffed with a hint of a smirk: "Not in the slightest." He inhaled the thick smoke through his soft lips, his eyes slightly rolling back: "You're not as smart as you think you are."

"You're not as mysterious as you think you are."

You watched the edge of Levi's lip curl into a faint smile. Levi's smile was soft and sweet; the subtle happiness on his face was contagious. However, he swiftly caught himself and wiped the expression from his soft lips.

It was only now that you realised that you'd never seen Captain Levi smile; you'd never heard him laugh, or, even appear remotely happy.

Your face slowly softened, as his face stiffened: you wondered why he refused to smile.

Whilst exhaling the thick smoke once more, Levi lifted his arm to offer you an inhale of his cigarette.

Not used to smoking, you swallowed: "Talk me through it."

Levi faintly smirked whilst holding the cigarette in between his middle and index finger: he held it within an inch of your parted lips, "When you feel it in between your lips, I want you to breathe in deeply."

"Will it hurt?"

"Inhale, and maybe you'll find out." He calmly responded.

You did as you were told, deeply inhaling the smoke from the cigarette Levi held.

The rich smoke tickled the back of your throat as you fought the urge to cough. Your face formed a cringe whilst Levi removed the cigarette from your lips, placing it back in between his own.
