22 Years Ago ;

Tears swarmed in your eyes, unable to stop falling. Your fingers tightly clung around Zeke's shirt, feeling his body keep hold of yours as his slender arms tightly wrapped around your torso.

Your head was resting against his lap, his palms consistently running through your hair and along your neck to calm you down as a slender tear fell from his eye.

He wiped the water away as you tightened your grip around him, loud cries slipping from your lips with each second.

Zeke's blonde eyebrows twitched together as you held tightly a crumpled photo of Dina and Grisha in your hands.

"Please, Y/N-.." Your older brother whispered to you, his voice shaking and trembling with each syllable, "Please don't cry."

You ignored him, still weeping loudly as your tears left marks on the black and white photo.

Your throat ached deeply; your eyes were almost swelled shut. Your cheeks were puffy and the white in your eye had transformed into a deep shade of crimson red.

Zeke's jaw snapped shut at the sound of your pain, his eyes tightly closing as he knelt his forehead against your ribs, struggling to hold back tears.

"I.." He paused for a few moments, almost unable to hear his voice over you, "I did what was best for the both of us, please, believe me.."

You let out a louder cry, attempting to push his body away, "Y-.." You struggled to speak, too young to know how to deal with the grief of your parents execution, "You monster! Y-.. You evil.. monster! You killed our parents! I-.. I hate you so much, Zeke, I hope you die the most painful death!"

Your words brought tears against the young boys eyes before you felt him force his arms around you, forcing you into a tight, enclosed embrace, "Don't-.. Please don't say that! You-.. You can't say that, please..!"

Your body weakened into his, still loudly crying with sorrow in your voice, "I mean it-.. I mean it, I swear.. I want you dead! You deserve to be dead.."

He held you even closer to him, able to feel your heartbeat through your clothes: "Please.. you can't say that."

You didn't respond: you were unable to, even if you had actually tried. Your throat was tightly closed shut, leaving barely enough room for you to slip a breath inside of your lungs. Heavy breaths penetrated out of your lips, making you feel light headed.

Your body was becoming too tired to even cry.

He shushed you down calmly, his eyelashes drenched in salty tears. Zeke slowly placed your head back against his lap, his fingers pressing against your cheek as he traced patterns on your skin.

His eyes slowly closed, struggling to comprehend everything that was happening.

"Shh.." He softly whispered, hearing you begin to quieten down, "Shh.."

Your cries turned more silent, barely able to hear apart from your frequent sniffling.

He turned your small body, almost cradling your in his arms as he sighed against you, pressing his cheek against yours.
"You're only little." He began with a soft yet tired tone, "You can't understand why I did it."

"I'm not little.."

"Your more little than me." He wiped a tear from under your eye, kissing you softly on the cheek, "I'm your big brother. It's my duty to protect you from anything.. so even if you want me dead, I'm not leaving you alone."

He moved his lips to your temple, kissing your skin softly before pulling you into a warm embrace.

You didn't respond, just listened as he shushed you down more, your eyes beginning to turn a little heavy.

Present ;

"Z-Zeke!"

It felt like daggers were slicing your throat as you yelled, before feeling your body be instantly pulled back by Jean and Pieck, both of them guilty forcing you back to prevent you from running into the scene.

You watched as Levi edged the blade just a meter above your your older brothers neck.

Zeke's body stared at you from afar, not fighting what was about to happen.

You felt your eyes immediately swell with tears that stained each inch of your face, covering your vision.

You pulled.

You pulled harsher.

Your eyes tightly shut, desperate to get closer and save his life. You could still see the good in his eyes; the good you'd grown up with until just a few months ago.

"P-Please-..!" You let out cry, feeling Pieck lace her fingers around your cheek to pull you close against her, "L-Let me go!"

Levi's skimmed to you, his lower lip slightly trembling before he forced himself to remember the situation.

He wondered if you'd forgive him.

To forgive him would be easier said than done.

Levi forced his silver eyes to glare away from you, feeling them harshly close as he raised his blades a little higher,

before finally slicing them through your older brothers neck.
