The day was coming to an end, the moon dusting against the dark sky: freckled stars contrasting with the deep horizon.

You hadn't brought up the lipstick stain or the receipts again with Levi, almost completely forgetting about it as your schedule became filled with paperwork and expeditions.

You arched your neck with slight fatigue, feeling your body became radiated in the chill from the moon that reflected through the large windows.

You could hear distant footsteps, followed by a thud, then the footsteps carried on. You squinted your eyes with a hint of confusion, before deciding to shake it off.

However, the confusion returned as the footsteps became louder in your ears.

"Huh.." You murmured, "Strange."

You saw a silhouette appear at the end of the corridor; a familiar silhouette.

"Levi?" You murmured once more as he flinched at the sight of you, his short frame appearing riddled with a sudden anxiety, "Are you okay?"

He walked closer to you from ten meters away, swallowing with wide eyes.
"Hello." Levi's voice was weary and tired: seeming more shallow than usual, "How-.. How are you?"

You felt yourself ease into a smile, "I'm fine; you look stressed, are you okay?"

"Ye-.. No." He gave you a glare of desperation, "I don't know?" He asked you as if it was a question that you would know the answer to, however, only left you more confused, "Y/N.."

You laughed quietly, "What are you on about?"

He suddenly shook his head, his lips closed tightly shut.

"It.. doesn't matter. 'You hungry?" The man paused, taking a step closer to you as his hand slipped into yours, before your eyes became locked onto something on his pale face, "Do you want to go out for dinner tonight? My treat?"

"Levi, whats that on your l-?"

"Come on, let's go, now." His voice was firm and demanding, making a shiver run down your spine at his sudden assertiveness towards you; you could almost taste his anxiety, "I'm-"

You grabbed onto his hand, forcing him to take a step back and stop walking. He looked at you with a gaze of trepidation upon his silver eyes, his hand shaking in yours.

You placed your hand against his cold cheek to analyse his face, your pupils locked onto his cherry-pink lips as your blood went cold.

The hairs on the back of your neck stood up.

Your heart began to shatter like glass.

"Levi?" Your voice cracked as his eyes looked away from yours coldly, "What is-..? Whats-..?

You skimmed your finger below his bottom lip, tracing the outline of a smudge of lipstick against the crook of his lips.

The exact same colour that was on the cup.

But now, it was placed as a kiss mark upon your fiancé's lips.

You stumbled back, a pain taking over your entire body that you'd never recognised before.

Your heart throbbed with a sharp sensation.

Your chest felt tight and restricted, unable to focus; your eyes turned to mist.

"Levi..?" You asked him with a betrayed hue against your voice, your speech cracking with each syllable of his name, "R-.. Rico?"

He shook his head as his lips twitched downwards, forcing himself to not react more powerfully, "I'm.. sorry." He muttered in a fragile tone, struggling to speak as he reached his hand to your face feeling it quickly pushed away, "I-.." His hoarse, deep voice crackled with each syllable word, "I didn't mean to-.."

"Oh, you didn't mean to?" You raised your voice as he flinched backwards, "You didn't mean to kiss her?" Your voice trembled: almost yelling yet still sounding scared and feeble.

"Y/N.." You watched as his eyes turned a light shade of red with guilt, almost as if he was struggling back tears, "Come on.. please. Let's just go back to our room and talk about thi-"

"No, Levi! No!" Your voice cracked as you yelled, your eyes no longer able to see past the thick tears that traced your cheeks, "This isn't fair.. I try.. so hard to make you happy!" A silver tear left his eye as you spoke, clutching onto your chest, "How.. could you do this to me? Why?"

He shook his head, parting his lips to speak yet he found himself unable to answer, too distraught and overwhelmed from seeing you cry like this to think of what had happened.

Had he cheated? He asked himself in his head, feeling his brain throb with thought as your silent cries and sniffles filled his ears.

Frantic thoughts fled from your mind and spilled out of your lips. Thoughts of your relationship; every second that had led to this moment with him.

Your first kiss with Levi stained your mind, conjuring a deep pain in your heart; your mind; your stomach. The way he proposed lingered deeply, now replaced with the thought of him kissing another woman.

Holding someone else; whispering sweet words to her, just like he did with you.

"Do-.." Your voice cracked, your eyes tightly closing: unable to look at him, "Do you even love me?"

"Of course I do!" Levi snapped at you, stepping forward as you watched his silver eyes begin to cloud, "Just-.. let me explain, alright? Please!"

You shook your head, wiping the water from your cheeks as you stepped back into the night.

"You know what? It's ironic that you told me how much your ex-girlfriend cheating on you hurt you.. and now look at you." It hurt to look him in the eye, "Pathetic. You're so.. pathetic.."

Shame lurked in his cold eyes.

"You don't understand.."

"Then explain!"

Your eyes struggled with tears; staining streaks down your cheeks, and down your neck.

You waited for an answer: some sort of explanation that made up for what had happened.. a practical joke? A Test? Even just an accident that you could laugh about in the future?

The man stayed silent.

Dead silent.

Your fingers clasped over your lips; you took a step back. You murmured a short, "No.." With swelled eyes, watching him lower his head with shame, "Please.. no."

"I-.." He paused, lowering his head, "I-.. Give me a minute.. please? I need to think.."

"Think of what? An excuse?"

"No! Just.. think. Please?"

Your eyebrows furrowed together, biting down on your lip to stop yourself from crying over him, not wanting to give him that sort of satisfaction, "You're disgusting.." You muttered, before turning your back, "I-.. I never want to see you again.."

"Y/N, come on, please-!"

"No. Don't try and find me, Levi.. you've made it clear enough that whatever you say to me will mean nothing."
