(A/N: Surprise! So, a few days ago I got a comment asking for a part 2 for my 'slapstick heart (l.m.)' oneshot and while I originally had no intention of doing a part 2, well, this sort of happened. And, yes, the title is another Sam Phillips song title lol Enjoy!)

       11 to 7.

That's how much we'd just won by. The other team was good but we were better. As I left the locker room, I noticed someone still on the ice doing laps. I squinted to see better and almost wish I hadn't.

'Luis.' I thought, sighing to myself.

Ever since that night at his dorm room, I'd been keeping my distance. My heart just couldn't take seeing him and Mindy together, especially in private settings. I'd instead focused on my studies and hockey and the other Ducks. They're the best friends I have ever had but the most special one was always missing. I looked in the stands, surprised that I didn't see Mindy waiting for Luis like she always did after games. I guess she left already or something.

I was about to leave when I accidentally locked eyes with Luis. We stared at each other for a moment before his hand went up in a small wave. I couldn't help but return it and like a magnet had taken ahold of me, I move closer to the ice. He started to skate towards me and my heart started to pound. I had been doing so well at keeping my distance but one look in his eyes, and I just couldn't help it. I needed to talk to him. Even just a brief 'hi' and I'd be good for a while. His skates made a 'swoosh' sound as he carefully came to a stop in front of me.

"Y/N." Luis said, taking off his helmet. "Hey. I feel like I haven't talked to you in forever."

I nodded along with his words, readjusting my duffle bag over my shoulder. "I know. We've both been busy."

"Could we maybe sit and talk for a bit?" He asked. He had an odd look on his face. I couldn't pinpoint the exact emotion and if I wasn't mistaken, I don't think he could either.

I gave him another nod. 'A few minutes wouldn't hurt right?'

We made our way over to the front row of seats, him walking carefully in his skates and me lagging behind a bit. I was still nervous to be around him just in case I would let my feelings slip out. I finally took the seat next to him and watched him as he leant forward with his elbows on his knees, eyes locked on the ice. We sat in silence for a minute before I decided to speak up.

"So, how have you been?" I asked, lamely. 'Really? You haven't seen each other in weeks and that's the best you can come up with? C'mon, Y/N.'

"Not so good actually. Aside from not seeing you," He said and I couldn't help but blush a bit. "Mindy and I have been fighting a lot lately."

"Really? I'm sorry to hear that." I said back. 'Yeah, right.'

"In fact, we kind of broke up this morning."

       My heart did a flip.

'Broke up? They really broke up?! OH MY GOD!' My mind and my heart were racing. And if it wasn't for the look on his face, I would have stood up and done a happy dance. But that could wait for later.

"You broke up?" I asked, trying to contain my happiness. "Why? I mean, were you really fighting that much?"

"Yeah," He said, "It's actually kind of stupid."

"What do you mean?" I turned my body fully towards him as he turned his to me.

"Well...what we fought about or fought about the most, I guess, was you."

"M-me?" I asked shakily. "Why would you be fighting a-about me?"

"I mean," He ran a hand through his sweaty hair before continuing. "It wasn't just about you but more me and you. I think I mentioned missing you one too many times for Mindy's liking. She started asking if there was something between us but I told her repeatedly that you're just my best friend."

"And?" I asked as my heart broke a bit at the two dreaded words, 'best friend'.

"And she didn't believe me. She thinks you're in love with me or something. I told her she was just being paranoid but that just made things worse. But she's completely wrong, right?"

       My heart stopped.

"W-what?" I asked as our eyes locked again. I hadn't noticed just how close we'd gotten to each other, a common theme when Luis and I were together it seemed.

"Mindy's wrong. You don't have feelings for me...right, Y/N/N?" He asked, his face moving slightly closer to mine with an unreadable expression in his eyes. The magnet was back except instead of moving closer to the ice, my head moved in closer to his.

"I-I...I" I tried to make any words come out of my mouth but it wasn't working.

Our heads were so close to each other now that if one of us moved even half an inch, our lips would touch. My heart flipped at the thought. His eyes flicked down to my lips before returning to my eyes. I couldn't fight the magnet anymore. And apparently, neither could he.

Our lips met in a feather-like, tentative kiss. It barely lasted for a second before we pulled back to look at each other. That lasted even less time before our lips met again. The second kiss was even sweeter than the first. It was more firm and a bit deeper but still a bit tentative. As we kissed, our lips moving against each other, I felt something wet hit my cheek. I pulled back and touched my left cheek.

'Am I crying?' I asked myself. But one look at Luis and I realized it wasn't me that was crying but him.

"Luis? Are you okay..." The words died on my tongue as he wiped his eyes with the sleeve of his jersey.

"I can't believe that just happened. I mean, all this time I thought we were just friends and Mindy and I just broke up and I miss her and-" He started rambling. The look on his face broke my heart for more than on reason.

"Luis?" I asked, waiting for his response. He looked at me with more tears in his eyes. "If Mindy were to come to you and ask to get back together, what would you say?"

       "W-what?" He stammered.

"Would you get back together with her?" I waited for his answer with my heart in my throat.

       "...I don't know."

But his tone said otherwise. Now it was my turn to cry. Tears fell from my eyes without my permission as we sat there in silence. After what felt like an eternity, I got up and grabbed my bag before running for the exit. I heard Luis call out to me. I didn't look back.

(A/N: I'm sorry! I know you were probably expecting a happier ending but this isn't the end! I intend on wrapping everything up with a third part sometime in the future. For now, wallow with me in the angst! And don't forget to get your votes in for the 5k Oneshot Special lol Until next time! Thanks!!)
