"It failed." The figure hissed in anger. "He's more powerful than I ever imagined."
"What do you want to do now?"
The figure ambled over to a table and picked up a vial with dark liquid.
"The parasite failed to control him but I have something else that might work. He won't slip through my grasp a second time."
"Are you sure it'll work? We haven't tested it yet."
"We can't wait any longer. The more powerful he becomes, the harder it'll be to control him."
"How do you plan to get him to take it? He's surrounded by protectors."
"We need to find a human that he trusts."
"Won't he be able to tell if this person is trying to trick him?"
"I've found a solution to help mask their senses."

Gwyneira glanced over her shoulder at her brother. A smile graced her face at the animated way he was talking to Charlie and Valerie.
"I can't believe he's alive. We have been searching for him for four years without any success."
"Do you think Markus will let him stay here with us?"
"I don't know. Do you think we should ask him?"
"Let's wait a while."
Rayne leaned back against the couch and twisted her head to look at Markus.
"Markus is truly remarkable. He's definitely the one that will bring peace to our species."
"He's our true protector." Calia smiled at her sisters. "He's the one we heard about in the prophecy."
"I had a feeling he was the one when he saved us. We can finally return home."
Rayne's smile suddenly fell from her face. "That parasite tried to take control of Markus. We can't let any harm come to him. Concave Abyssal has been around for years. But no one has ever seen their leader."
"Who do you think it could be?"
"It could be any supernatural being with dark powers. They won't stop until he's on their side. Markus is very powerful and if he falls in their hands he will be extremely dangerous. I've seen his eyes flashing red. It's more than his parents powers."
Gwyneira frowned at her. "What do you mean?"
"Markus has God powers."
"He's a hybrid with God powers?"
"Transcendent Nephalim of mixed powers. His grandparents are immortal gods."
"No wonder he was able to transform us back to our original form."
"Do the others know?"
"Tia is an elite angel. Her parents must have told her about Markus."
"Do you think we should tell Markus about his powers?"
Rayne shook her head. "We just have to watch over him for now."
"What about Mitchell? He's not a normal human."
Gwyneira stared over at Mitchell with a frown. "He's a light caster. No other supernatural being has that kind of power. But he's not manifesting his powers."
"What do you mean?"
"Mitchell is a ticking bomb. He needs to harness his powers before he hurts someone unintentionally."
"Can Markus help him?"
"He's the only one that can help him."
Rayne shook her head, amusement clear in her eyes. "A Transcendent Nephalim and a Light Caster as mates."
"What are you guys doing over here?"
The triplets turned to look at Markus. Rayne could still glimpse a bit of red in his hazel eyes.
"Akri, how are you feeling?" Calia asked, smiling at him.
Markus smiled at her. "We're bond together. My feelings are yours and vice versa."
Rayne closed her eyes for a minute then slowly opened them. Her head tilted to the side as she stared wide-eyed at him.
Markus put a finger to his mouth then gave her a wink. He sat down next to Calia, who immediately rest her head on his shoulder.
"Dresden is going to stay here with us until it's safe for you to go home."
"You heard us talking, didn't you?"
"I did," Markus leaned forward. "I'm sorry for listening to your conversation, but I wanted to make sure you guys weren't worried about your brother. He's a part of your family, so of course I'm going to let him stay."
"It's okay." Calia smiled at him. A yawn suddenly escaped her mouth and everyone laughed at her sheepish expression. "I didn't realize I was so tired. I'm going to bed."
"I'm going with you." Gwyneira stood to her feet. "I'm happy you're home."
Both sisters kissed him on his cheek before walking away. Rayne watched her sisters walked up the stairs to their rooms.
"Thank you for taking us into your home." She turned her gaze to Markus. "We would have died if you hadn't saved us."
"You don't need to thank me. I was happy to do it."
Rayne stood up and kissed him on the cheek. "I'll see you in the morning."
"Have a good night rest."
Rayne smiled at him before walking away. At the bottom of the stairs she paused for a moment then turned her head to stare at Markus. She had failed to protect him once. It wasn't going to happen again.
