"(y/n) isn't here," Lloyd muttered to his father as they sailed to Chen's island. He was worried. Dread washed over him; he had expected (y/n) to be here.

Garmadon had discovered that Lloyd's fishing trip was a cover up and had joined the Ninja to watch over them during the tournament of elements. He laid a hand on Lloyd's shoulder, "she'll be fine," he assured. "I was good friends with Akash Windsor, (y/n)'s great-grandfather, an exceptional Master of Wind and when he passed you could tell, the winds seemed sad, I can guarantee that she's fine."

They joined the others at the front of the ship as they neared Chen's island

The ship docked. "Welcome to Chen's Island. The tournament of elements welcomes its brave fighters," Clouse greeted as he stepped off the ship. He wickedly grinned at Garmadon, "Master Chen will be pleased you've returned Sensei Garmadon."

"The pleasure is all mine Clouse," he replied

"I'm sure it is," Clouse grumbled.

The elemental master's followed Clouse inside. "Master Chen used to be a friend. Now he's a traitor. During the Serpentine Wars, Chen turned against his own kind and sided with the treacherous snakes," Garmadon explained.

"The battle you and Uncle Wu fought together in? He was an enemy?" Lloyd clarified.

"He used deception to divide the elemental Masters, we barely defeated the Serpentine, and in a deal for his surrender, Chen was never to leave this island. Little did we know he'd begin to build his criminal empire from here," Sensei Garmadon continued.

"He may have divided our ancestors, but he's not going to divide us," Lloyd determined. The group stopped at two large wooden doors.

The sounds of chanting and drums filled their ears as the doors opened. The followed Clouse inside, past the drummers in red cloaks.

A gong crashed, announcing the arrival of Master Chen. "All rise for Master Chen," Clouse ordered and everyone in the room stood.

A throne was lowered into the room. "Welcome to the Tournament of Elements. Now everyone can all die... direct your attention to me," he greeted.

"I forgot to mention he has a penchant for theatrics," Garmadon whispered to Lloyd as they took their seats again.

"Never before have so many elemental fighters, been under one roof, I see Master of Fire, Earth, Shadow, Speed. Even a prophesied green savior and a former pupil has returned." Chen turned to his symbol upon the wall, "this symbol before you is for the Anacondrai, fiercest Serpentine warrior to ever roam this land. It's creed 'Only one can remain." Chen continued and a bracket was revealed. Thankfully the Ninja were not pitted against one another.

"Behold a jade blade," Chen said, pointing to a weapon in Clouse's hands. "Here it represents life, obtain it, move on. Allow your opponent to take it... Loser! The rules are simple," Chen pointed out. "Every match will be different. No two fights will be the same, your powers will keep you in the tournament, use it or lose it."

"What does Karlof win?" The Master of Metal asked.

"Win and stay on the island. Win it all and you'll receive fortunes beyond your wildest dreams and a lifetime supply of Master Chen Noodles," Chen answered. "But no is here because of noodle. You want the glory of being the greatest fighter in all of Ninjago."
