38. Elders

It has been a week since Tsunade was awake and Inora discussed something with her sensei yesterday that has been bothering her for so long. She really wanted to learn the Sage jutsu. And surprisingly Tsunade agreed on that too. Inora thought about it once again all night and finally came to a conclusion.

She summoned Roda. "I need you to tell Lord Fukasaku that I am willing to learn the Sage jutsu and that I am requesting his assistance." She said and her toad vanished. She really hoped that the sage toad would accept her request.

Inora was summoned by the Hokage and was on her way to meet her. She saw Kakashi, Sakura and Naruto along with the 2 village elders.

"What is this Tsunade? What do you want to talk about?" Koharu asked. "I wanted to talk about the Uchiha massacre and Itachi Uchiha." The Hokage stated. Kakashi reported everything to Lady Tsunade on what happened that day. "We are in the middle of preparations for the 4th great Ninja war and you want to talk about that now?" Homura asked.

"Yes. Did Itachi Uchiha kill his clan under Danzo's order?" Tsunade asked seriously looking at the elders. "Where did you get that information from?" Koharu asked surprised. "So it is true?" Tsunade asked with an eyebrow raised at the elders. "It was supposed to be confidential top secret information, how did you know that?" Homura asked impatiently.

"Kakashi, Naruto and Inora had an incident were they met Madara Uchiha. He gave them the information. And it seems like he was right." Tsunade said gritting her teeth in anger. The Hokage couldnt believe that her village stooped so low to protect their asses. "There wasnt any choice, the Uchiha were planning a coup so we decided to strike first. I cant believe Itachi gave out such confidential information to the enemy." Koharu said.

"One more word. If I hear one more word about Itachi from that mouth of yours, I will fucking kill the both of you." Inora said, her voice dangerously low which made everyone in the room shiver. Tsunade noticed Inora's fists clenched in anger. "I cant believe you went this far. Did you really have to kill the entire clan? That too without the third Hokage's knowledge? I cant believe this was the real reason behind dissolving the foundation." The Hokage stated in anger. "If the Uchiha were successful in their Coup d'etat , it would have been a disaster." Homura explained.

"And whose fault do you think it is that the Uchiha resorted to plan a coup? The Uchiha didnt trust the village only because the Village never trusted the Uchiha." Inora said gritting her teeth. "What do you mean Inora?" Tsunade asked in confusion. "I found records of the Anbu keeping the Uchiha clan under surveillance without their knowledge. You can even ask Kakashi. I found some of his reports too." Inora said which made the Hokage look at Kakashi for confirmation. Kakashi was shocked to know thay Inora knew this much but either way he confirmed her statement.

Tsunade stood up from her seat in disbelief "I cant believe you have stooped this low, and you call yourself the elders?" "Danzo did what he thought was best for the village." Koharu said. Inora snapped when she heard that, she held both the old geezers by their collar and lifted them off the ground. "Which part of Danzo trying to kill Shisui who actually came up with a plan to stop the coup and stealing his eye for his own fucking benefit is for the good of the village?" Inora asked with eyes full of rage. She was a good 10 seconds away from slitting their throats. Naruto and Sakura froze after seeing Inora like that. They had never seen her this angry. It was so scary.

"Your job as advisors was to come up with a solution to stop all that without blood shed but instead of that, all you did was push your burden on a 14 year old boy who was loyal to the village and used him for your own shortcomings. And as a result we have a 16 year old boy who wants nothing more than to destroy this entire village just because you couldnt do your fucking job properly." She yelled. "Inora.." Tsunade said with so much guilt in her voice. She suddenly came to her senses and put the 2 elders back in the ground.

"It is such a shame that I couldnt help Sasuke kill Danzo. I always wanted to do that ever since I knew the truth." Inora muttered to herself which everyone heard perfectly. Both the elders couldnt speak a word. They felt ashamed. "I am putting you both under house arrest and stripping your position as the village council advisors once the war is over." Tsunade said making everyone look at her in shock. "What you did was nowhere near acceptable. You can go now." She said looking at them and the 2 elders left without a word.

Tsunade sighed heavily looking at Inora who just stood there looking at the floor. "How long have you known the truth?" She asked the redhead. "Eversince Itachi visited the village after Lord third's death." She replied quietly. Kakashi was surprised to hear that. "Did you go after him?" He asked. "No. I mean yes... but.." Inora sighed knowing she cant keep it from them anymore.

"I met Itachi almost an year after the massacre. He was with Orochimaru." She said which made everyone's eyes widen in shock. "What did Itachi have to do with Orochimaru?" Sakura asked. "Orochimaru was part of the Akatsuki too but he left because he tried to make Itachi's body as his vessel but Itachi had him under his Tsukuyomi. If it wasnt for Kabuto, Orochimaru would have been dead that day." She explained.

"I was aware that Itachi wasnt someone who would kill his clan from some dumb reason such as power. So I was determined to find him. I have been meeting with him ever since I found him that day. I never really asked him anything about the massacre. I knew he would tell me if he wanted to. I just wanted to be there for him like he was there for me. But when I saw Kakashi and Sasuke in the hospital that day, I lost it. I kinda punched the hell out of him and after that he told me everything." She continued.

"I promised him that I wouldnt tell anyone else. Once I came to know that he was planning on fighting Sasuke, I tried stopping him. But he put me under a genjutsu." She said while her voice cracked. Everybody was silent. Nobody knew what to say.

"Just tell me this sensei. If he were alive, would you have given him a second chance?" She asked looking at the Hokage. "Ofcourse I would have, he is the only reason that Konoha is still in existence." The Hokage replied without a doubt looking at her student. She knows how painful it is to lose someone you love. "He would be happy to know that. Thank you sensei." She said and left.

She sat on the grass near the river, their old meeting spot. "You do have a second chance Itachi. All you need to do is wake up." She whispered looking at the sky. She felt a familiar chakra coming towards her.

"Kakashi sensei told me that I would find you here." Naruto said sitting beside his sister. "This place is beautiful." He said in hopes of starting a conversation. "Yeah. It is. This is the where I first brought Itachi to play when we were 4. I also met Shisui here." She replied. Naruto had no idea how to comfort her. But he noticed that Inora was still hiding something from them. He wanted to be there for his sister so he was determined to make her talk.

"You are still hiding something arent you Inora?" He asked surprising her. "What do you mean?" She asked. "I know there is something bothering you. You are not telling everything. Dont keep it to yourself Inora. You are not alone you know. I am there for you just like you are always there for me." He said placing a hand on her shoulder and giving her one of his heart warming smiles.

Tears pooled her eyes and she hugged him tight and cried on his shoulders. "I miss him so much, Naruto." He hugged her back and let her cry. She decided to tell Naruto everything. She had no idea if Itachi would wake up before the war or if she would survive the war. So she wanted someone to know the truth.

"You are right. There is something I didnt tell anyone." She said looking at him. "Hold my hands. We are going somewhere." She said and took Naruto to where Itachi is.
